The last things I watched from Kyoani were Amagi Brilliant Park, Phantom World and Kyoukai no Kanata aka Beyond the Boundary, all three shows had fantastic camera work and bright colors but the characters were odd, felt like they were light novel characters with neatly they fit into specific archetypes. Before that, the only other stuff I fucked with from them were Lucky Star, Haruhi, cept for the Disappearence movie, ditched after hearing the author took the money and ran effectively leaving the franchise in limbo with no plans to ever resolve or return to it, and Hyouka whose author apparently did the same thing.

The problem is that you are using those classifiers as if they are absolute. K-on is a seinen magazine, yet the manga itself and its anime "adaptation" are anything but. If you are using your own criteria for this stuff then it's fine but if you are using the criteria popularized by manga then I can see TTGL being published in a shoujo manga with a little bit of tweaking to its art style.
