The old anime added anime original female Ranma nudity in the Cologne arc, they changed the giant Ping Pong match chapter so Ranma would wear a one piece swimsuit and be barefoot instead of a Yukata unlike in the manga, they had an anime original Hotel episode where they show anime original nudity of Ranma's tits and Akane's ass and they had anime original beach episodes
So I'd say if anything the old anime ended up having more fanservice than the manga itself due to all the anime original changes
>>283286627
Yes I'm well aware of that. Ranma wasn't the only anime that did this I think there's some unspoken rule among anime studios that an episode should match the current.
>>283286863
Fanservice is nice and all but it wasn't always necessary with the original anime. The nudity was often used for comedic purposes. Wasn't the beach episode in the original anime a filler?
Has anyone tried editing the music of the remake with the OST of the original anime? Not saying the remake's OST is bad but the original anime's was to good and had a lot of memorable tracks.
Why are these threads so slow when every thread for season 1 had a lot of engagement. Did nippleschizo annoy everyone so much that they no longer choose to talk about this series on /a/?
>>283287421
The old anime had multiple beach episodes but this one changed the setting so Ranma fought ice monsters created by Cologne on a ski resort instead of a Shark at the beach, I actually like the ice creatures better and the fact that unlike in the manga Ranma actually punched Cologne directly multiple times in the 1989 anime
the 1989 anime also changed the setting of other episodes, it seemed to be done at random
>>283288916
Those anons are right tho, Barbie Doll Ranma looks freaky as fuck, even moreso in the extended bath scenes, I would take hair or object censorship over that
Man, great episode this week! The action was well done, the gags were well timed and the pacing was otherwise on point as well. I'm not usually a big fan of the animated SFX like in the UY remake since it's easy to overuse them, but they worked well this time. And I liked the artstyles they used for the special effects like the whirlpool.
It also helps that this is one of the best earlier arcs in the manga, of course.
>>283288997
The original adaptation was pretty close to the manga despite the setting change. Kinda hurt the episode that they had to leave out the bit where Akane dives in after Ranma though.
>>283290586
Everyone here answering Shampoo are a bunch of loser incels who’ve never known the touch of a real woman other than their mother, Akane is an actual REAL woman instead of just a cheap bimbo fantasy.
>>283286474 (OP) >Rumicslop
Reminder that she and this very series is responsible for popularizing the cancerous tsundere trope and is the reason why women in anime frequently act like violent, domineering bitches but the men most remain beta simps.
>>283296242 >This is a bad remake of a good anime
LMAO. Says the nostalgiatard who faps on a "good anime" solely for flashing nipples yet can't be faithful to its source material or adapt half its content.
>>283296242 >This is a bad remake of a good anime.
Only the first season of the old anime was good. Everything after word was low budget filler garbage.
>>283298914
Like what retard? Short minor scenes that doesn't affect the overall story? It's still better than what the original anime did that skipped several chapters, and completely altered the original story.
>>283298761
It's a shame though that they're not following chronological order of certain story arcs this season. We'll have Happosai and Ukyo's introduction before Breaking Point. Hoping it was moved to the later episodes of season 2 and not to season 3.
>>283300165
It will be for season 3, they already want to get rid of the character introductions and then they will be able to adapt the arcs chronologically.
>>283301342
I was referring to how the original anime didn't have her insert random ungrammatical "aru"s in her lines despite doing so in the manga. They were changing her lines a bit last week as well, but this week they were all manga accurate.
Shampoo is still cute while Akane gets more jarring the more I see of her. In season 1 I would have agreed but now her being an obnoxious jealous tsundere with an ugly haircut makes her so unlikable to me.
>>283302595 >The original manga was literally at least 75% filler
That's fucking bullshit. You can't call original content from the manga as "filler" because that's original content and what the author wanted to be included. Now the original anime had nearly half its episodes as fillers since they were completely new stories not written by Rumiko Takahashi.
>this remake is also low budget but only it lacks soulful animation cels
LMAO. Implying that cel animation gives it soul and makes the original better. Keep coping nostalgiatard.
>>283290586
Shampoo if I went for looks, Akane if I went for personality.
Akane is actually a really sweet girl when Ranma is being nice to her or defending her. She has a very big heart
>>283302595
Its a slice of life manga. Filler doesn't really exist in that genre. Sure there are some parts that introduce new characters or mildly move the plot forward, but its mainly about following the daily life of the characters. Take away the filler and you're left with quite a hollow feeling story
>>283303001
The hilarious thing is how the original anime obviously had to include filler to avoid reaching the manga, but when it came to adapting things from it, it did it very poorly and didn't take its due time.
>>283303015 >akane is sweet >the girl that punches you if she becomes insecure about cooking, clothing or another girl just looking at you is really sweet.
Stop with cope please.
Akane especially when it comes to personality is shit, if it was only about design she would be fine.
Here is a real sweet girl.
Akane has literally every right to be angry every single time she does get angry. The problem is she takes it out on Ranma instead of the countless whores who hug him and touch him and whatnot.
>>283303441
Lot of the punches Ranma gets from Akane were pretty deserved desu.
Of course her agressiveness is exaggerated for comedic effect. But when Ranma shows genuine kindness/affection for her she just melts, I find that really sweet and cute.
>>283303120
I have to give credit to original anime's OST though. Their musical composer Kenji Kawai produced some bangers and memorable music tracks. Not saying the remake's OST is bad but it could use more jankiness to it.
>>283303327
The main changes were
*heavily extended the flashback at the start
*removed Akane's "we're both girls" line
*a bunch of lines were rewritten to really emphasize the rewrite that the prize was a kiss from Shampoo and nothing more
>>283303120
The original anime is kind of funny. You can see in the first season it actually attempts to have stronger continuity than the manga tying together a bunch of stories into a linear drama. But then when that flopped and it restarted as a new show they took the opposite approach, wanting to avoid long arcs and condensing manga stories into one or two episodes when possible,, focusing on giving it all an episodic feel, including many random anime original stories made specifically for that.
I guess this second format seemingly did better back then, but I wonder if it wasn't just because Shampoo wasn't around for those earlier episodes.
>>283303683 >>283303757
Ah, gotcha. I noticed the flashback and the both girls bit, but not much else. The shark fist was well done. Also, there was a fan service shot of Neko Ranma. Anyone have it?
>>283303663 >"perfectly good anime"
So an anime that failed to faithfully adapt its source material, couldn't cover half its content, and had to produce filler episodes for nearly 50% of its entire run is a "good anime". Sure nostalgiatard.
>For what purpose
You know. Rectify the glaring errors of the original anime and to properly adapt the manga the way Rumiko Takahashi intended.
>>283303764
Have you witnessed female Ranma? Look at him. Who wouldn't? Akane has always wanted to do that. She was just pretending being embarrassed about it in the manga.
>>283303788
Haven't downloaded the episode yet, but I think this is the furthest out that she appears from behind Akane. 7:12 from the end, if anyone wants to capture.
>>283303595
No they weren't, Ranma banters with Akane only 3 times out of 10 when she hits because she saw him with another girl or because she misunderstood what he was saying.
Akane fans will hate on Ranma because he is not a complete simp main character like modern anime guys. It's retarded.
Any normal man taking even 5% of what Akane does is a retard.
>>283304821
Ryu Kumon(kinda), Ryuunosuke(? that descendent of Orochi sealers) >>283304853
It was a magical time, when they were two of the most prominent anime known to the west. Before covid weebs invaded.
>>283304821
Gosunkugi is a literal creep, Kuno and Ryoga are stupid, like actually brain damaged stupid.
The only one good was Shinnosuke.
The joke is that Akane like Shinobu has a bad harem but Ranma doesn't, Kodachi is crazy but not stupid and unloyal like Kuno, Shampoo is manipulative but if she got Ranma she would be nice, Ukyo is all around the best.
>>283304821
also it's a typical otome fantasy that every guy in the school just gets the hot for the normal girl mc.It's standard in anime and while it was somewhat believable in Urusei Yatsura it's just doesn't feel the same for Ranma
>>283304947
she is literal affectionate every time she is with him? protects him from Mousse attacking him? Even sided with him over her grandmother.
Akane didn't even side with Ranma over Nabiki.
>>283304821 >>283304986
I can believe that for a lot of the unnamed male students it's just a byproduct of Kuno's obsession with her, like his actions make her seem more "valuable" and so they assume that if he's that obsessed, there must be something special about her.
>>283305132
Kuno fired up the school athletes once he issued the "beat her to bed her" ultimatum. Before that, probably nobody really cared or knew that she was a muscle freak.
>>283305152 >>she is not like the other girls! she has this quirk you see
So... like literally every (100% female) character in Ranma?
Or are we going to pretend any of them are really complex and Akane is the only one who is not?
>>283305297
the other girls quirks are not simply, oh she has a bad temper, its, i am crazy gymnastic that uses drugs and bullies other girls, it's chinese amazon that ooga booga from walls and tries to marry you with potions, and okonomiyaki osakan childhood friend that dressed as a boy her whole life that fell for you.
>>283302907
I don't think a Slayers remake would make sense nowadays. Also Megumi isn't the youngest anymore and the anime already came back in the 00s and it was shit (I hated that green, ugly digimon imitation with a passion).
>>283286863
to be fair early on Ranma didn't like girly outfits but by the end of the manga Ranma was just wearing S&M maid coslay shit and didn't give a fuck no mo'
>>283288687
I don't know how to tell you this, but once you get past early Ranma every chapter is the same rote will they won't they with a different setting with very little large scale things change, and by very little I mean his mom shows up and that's like the only time anything ever changes
>>283306525
A guy who claims to be the man and hates his curse, dressing up like a slut to seduce other guys and push his own ego is supposed to be funny i guess...
