Will we ever get back to regularly adapting VNs to anime?
Anonymous No.283287654 [Report]
no

They prefer adapting shitty isekais instead

What VN should be adapted? Most of the high quality ones that are not yet adapted heavily utilize the medium

As a westerner, there's a bit of important context you're probably missing from this situation: The boom of visual novels happened almost entirely because of ToHeart. That shit EXPLODED in popularity at just the right time to be one of the early franchises to consume new anime figure stores that were opening. It had what was basically the first real TV adaption of a visual novel.

The big boom of visual novel adaptions in the early 00s happened entirely because of other companies wanting a piece of the pie. Since most of the western fanbase emerged around the same time this happened, visual novel adaptions just seemed like a standard thing. In reality, they were a trend that lasted about 5-6 years (with some more popular ones lingering after that). I honestly think the main thing that killed visual novels as a medium was just internet connections improving, so higher-resolution art could be distributed online without having to use visual novels as a way to get people to download it. So artists and writers no longer needed to work together to cross-promote in that way.

God I wish we got a good KnS adaptation. I would kill to see Touko's slyness, all the KnS2 suffering kino, and THAT ending.

what's the ending? did the heroine from the first game get saved?

More than they already do? This year we already had Nukitashi and Summer Pockets and 9 -nine- and Tasokare Hotel, and only one of those were good and it was apparently not a good adaptation

Touko dies in captivity before the plot of KnS 2 after giving birth to Reiji's daughter.

Yes, she married Reiji and they lived happily ever after ;_;

KnS3 was ruined by the haphazard shipping between Yukari and Misaki.
It didn't work at all, and even the writer clearly could tell. Hence why he didn't actually pull the trigger.

I worked painstakingly hard to get every ending in the first game because I thought the true ending would be a happy one. I don’t know why I cared so much

Reiji's life is literally one of suffering.

KnS3 had many problems, timeskip and Stella being Reiji's forced partner is another one of them. But the ending, especially the true end, made it all worth it.

VNs got replaced by gacha as the otaku zeitgeist, so no.

I actually like the timeskip.
Seeing Reiji not even really have Yukari around to be his rock anymore hit really fucking hard.

Would the second game satisfy me if I thought the first one was far too lacking in story/plot? It was too spread out.

The 2nd game has THE BEST narrative.
However it features like 6 hours of Misaki's backstory SoL

I can't read your mind, but for me KnS2 was the strongest in terms of plot. But be aware that it starts with a long flashback that starts slow, but is very relevant for the whole plot.

I'd really like to see a Sekien no Inganock anime, but in all likeness it would be a trainwreck
