The anime has been faithful with all the story beats so far, and I don't think they even exist as concepts in this universe. Can't say for sure, but extremely unlikely. I didn't finish the original Kamen Rider season in favor of finishing other shows first, so all the knowledge I have about Shocker are the first 16 episodes of the original season, Kamen Rider Spirits and the Heisei crossovers that featured the original season

The likeliest reason this got an adaptation is because ex Toei president Shin-ichiro Shirakura wants to bring Kamen Rider to the west and anime is a wider-known market on the west, so adapting more Kamen Rider manga into anime the same year the first Kamen Rider with a worldwide release comes out probably seems like a logical choice. They've redone a lot of the framing compared to the manga which is really rough. From comparisons I'd overall hand it to the anime's direction. So I wouldn't say its an attempt at censorship as much as having to deal with the flow of an animation vs manga panels that can get away with being much jumpier. It would be jarring to see her get up like she didn't just get punched in the face and then continue with her thing ending in calling the gank squad. Yeah, at least in the original series they were explicitly connected to Nazi. So, the salute is intentional. That said, I kind of doubt they will use that here and stuff like the salute is mostly kept because it's part of Shocker's imagery, considering how that Shocker girl seems to be one of the main characters.

What happened was initially Kamen Rider up to Amazon aired on NET. During Amazon's production, the airing license was acquired by MBS. MBS wanted their own original Kamen Rider production, and pushed for them to cut Amazon short to get started on it. Funnily enough this decision came from so high up and so suddenly that the producers only learned it was getting cut short in the same newspaper article that ANNOUNCED Amazon at all (Source: https://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/仮面ライダーアマゾン#ネットチェンジと番組の終了) meaning there was little actual preparation or planning for this. And at the time, Kamen Rider made most of its money through sponsorships, commercials, network budget allocation, etc. The longer a show ran, the more money it made. And even those are still very frugal in terms of suit-craft (Titan is mostly just clothing and a slightly detailed mask, General Shadow is a bodysuit and cloth scraps alongside a similarly detailed mask)

It's a pretty short list - they can be passionate, definitely, but the actual hot-blooded Showa hero style is very uncommon in Heisei and Reiwa Rider, with the more "intense" characters usually being much more flawed and not meant to be viewed as heroically. In terms of actual main RIders, Touma is the closest to the typical nekketsu hero given he's got this deep growly voice, yells constantly, calls out his own finishers, and runs on platitudes and he's outright a deviation from the norm. The next best is kinda Kouta and even then not really. The remaining candidates are secondary Riders and even then only really Banjou and Fuwa fit the bill.

Really, Geddon, Garanda, GOD and even Delza from Stronger are standalone enough. They all get origins and resolution in their shows unlike Destron, which is pretty much Shocker + and V3 itself ends with 'the battle continues". GOD from X is similar to Shocker as a transhumanist conspiracy to take over the Japanese government (rather than the world), but Geddon from Amazon is tribal group, not some high tech organization. The Garanda Empire from Amazon is more Shocker-like, but it's also a cult to a deity that's dealt with and defeated in Amazon itself.

Even separately from the cyborg stuff, the Delza Army in Stronger is introduced as composed by a race of "demons" that gave rise to many legends of the world. Like one of them outright references the Frankenstein monster as his ancestor, while another is from a tribe of werewolves.

It's just the Great Leader appears near the end of Stronger and claims he was behind all of the enemy factions up to that point (technically skipping the Garanda Empire, the 2nd enemy from Amazon) and the Delza commanders go and follow his orders too. Like I said though, the Delza guys aren't just themed cyborgs, but actually part of supernatural races separate from humanity and during their intro they highlight how they're way above Black Satan's cyborgs.

The only crime Wizard is truly guilty of is being predictable, but let's be real Den-O didn't exactly have a lot of twists and turns and is loved, and neither did W which came out not too long before which is also loved. Not to say that either are bad, but I do think it's unfair that Wizard has this reputation of being complete garbage, repetitive, and MotW focused when there are plenty of other shows before it that did the exact same thing. People from that time just had fatigue or something and can't separate their biases from the quality of the actual writing, action, etc.

Anyway this is gonna be my last post about it because I don't want to trigger the other guy from earlier into sperging out again. Wizard does look better because of shit modern shows but even back then it was just okay, even compared to Phase 1 it's mid tier - Wizard is better than Kiva, Decade, Hibiki, and arguably Den-O, and I'm a freak who likes Kiva.

The problem with Wizard is that it's strangled by its own format compared to W.

In W, the monsters of the week have their goals and just happened to get Memories from the Museum with only a few being direct henchmen that were generally portrayed as more dangerous.

In Wizard, everyt motw is a Phantom with the same goal of making one specific person fall to despair (something that's always interrupted during the tv show and never allowed to happen once).

W had the villain/victim of the week set up, but it was loose enough, it allowed something like the cop killing Triceratops. She actually kills the targets of her revenge, while Wizard never breaks from formula.

Wizard also tried too hard to sell Wizard as cool, while still stuck in the two week format. While W often could have problems with a Dopant, justifying the battle not finishing and the two weeks, Wizard often is dancing and slashing all around the from the start, with the battle not ending because he gets busy with grunts or keeps power up forms for the rematch.

It all those things adding up that make Wizard feel like a worse version of the formula that the 3 shows before it used.

They're really good at weaving the songs together when characters shift the battle. The songs are also all over the place musically so there's a ton of different sounding sections in each one they can jump in on for different scenarios.

Anon might have exaggerated a bit, but that's what about 90% of the show is like. The deaths in the first Sabbath (which included Medusa's as well as Haruto and Gremlin's whole thing) are literally a flashback at the start of the series to establish the main story's background rather than an event Haruto has to deal with later on, two of the Mages don't appear until really late in the series and none of the three die on top of all of them being useless jobber Riders who just exist so Fueki can do his big ritual.

Wonder if this anime and Zeztz will indeed bring a considerable amount if western fans to the franchise? I just hope that they don't change the way they make these shows to appeal to the west, but considering how Power Rangers didn't affect Super Sentai that much on how they did things, that Zeztz's producer has stated multiple times that Japanese kids still are the main focus over other countries and that the new prime minister of Japan seems closer to how Abe used to do things I guess there's really nothing to fear in that regard.
My main fear going forward is Toei's new president being the Ryusoulger guy, ever since he took over I feel every shield except Gozyuger has been simpler in premise, while I personally felt that helped Gavv and is helping Zeztz at the moment, I dread that it could lead to complications.

The art style is over the top goofy but how the events play out in the manga are much more gorier. The anime is very toned down in terms of details.
