Sakura needs less of the story to build it up, but as a concept, it is more generic.

He tricks her into thinking he's doing something different but it's completely pointless because she's already caught in his jutsu. Vs Temari was okay. Against Tayuya his jutsu suddenly can be resistet and he loses. Against Hidan his jutsu suddenly can't be resisted anymore but is automatically applied the second someone touches him, but he still has to cheat by keeping up in taijutsu with a pure taijutsu user despite supposedly never practicing it.

Where did the whole idea of characters being limited to one iconic move with endless variants come from? At most, Kishimoto's ability to write women would be at fault, but he has his notes published from the start of the series that already say Naruto will end up with Hinata, so if nothing else, Kishimoto knew, and in my opinion, it became pretty obvious from early in Shippuden.

You don't go to WSJ to get published if you want freedom, you choose WSJ because you want to make the most money and have the biggest possible readership.
That's the price to pay for the possibility of a huge return: you really are a tool of the publisher more than an artist.
