Because of Sasuke, its(the series as a whole) potential devolved into a mishandling of editorial interference of a story that was blatantly biased towards the Uchihas and made Sasuke a controversial if not unpopular concept that interconnected on a story named and focused on what the people expected, the main lead and the title name.

I blame the writer for naming the series after the mc that confused the premise and the eventual backlash and outcry of the negative impact the series got after the stories ending and mixed reception.

And I'm a Sasuke fan BTW. But Sasuke and his story should have not been a bigger deal than it became.

the story is largely about the tragedy of a clan that was eaten, shit out and discarded to history before the MC is even aware of that awful history.
The grievances become properly understood by the world and Naruto and nothing can resolve before that.

actually explore the politics and have them deal with other genjutsu users
let sasuke actually deal with never measuring up to itachi
let itachi become disillusioned and fall down the same path as madara
Don't have obito spontaneously forget how to dodge a boulder.
There's so many infinitely more interesting plot threads than the ones kishi chose, which all revolve around "this really sad thing needs to happen even if it's forced".
