Watched it for the first time a couple years ago, found it enjoyable. Shouldn't be milked today, I'd rather see new quality original anime series be made. I don't keep up with modern anime, so idk it there are comparable shows being made today.

the girls are hot and interact well with lelouch, plenty of mecha action, the mc is dramatic as fuck and owns it, the slice of life school segements are fun, It was the complete anime really.

Hopefully after roze of the recapture they will let this code geass franchise rest for good and move on or actually put the effort to make something new.
More likely they will try to milk it some other way but one can hope

R1 and R2 will remain as classics and anyone who watches them today is going to go “oh fuck, the themes of this series deal with the exact tyranny, bigotry and genocide that dominates our news.” Anyone who has studied OG Gundam and the mecha formulae will see it and go “oh, they’re using THAT setup here” while ogling the knightmare frame porn, startup sequences, launches, upgrades, special tools, mech damage and destruction, etc. Anyone who watched Deathnote and knows about how popular that became will go “he’s just like Light fr fr” and then be shocked when Lulu gets multiple development arcs and changes significantly as a person multiple times.

There are even rewards for rewatching it, especially R1, because some of the motivations and backstories weren’t even revealed from the start. It hits different the second time when you know why Suzaku is so fucked up.

CC will always be best girl (but everyone will have a soft spot for Kallen because she’s a freedom fighter who also gets a lot of character development)

Is code really that relevant enough in japan to be milked? I know there is the Roze but that felt like a last hurrah to see if the nips would still willing to pay money for more in merch and stuff.

It was, it is, and it will be mediocre entry anime.

i just finished it this weekend, it was amazing i love it. even that stupid fucking euphemia shit didn't throw me off that much, it is like death note but way better, because i actually like the mc and his intentions aren't just pure dictatorship level evil, lelouche was evil in the end, but he did it to give everyone a common enemy. and i really felt the apin he did at some parts, like sherley dying, nunally dying and COMING BACK!?!? there's some insane twists. can't believe its the same mangaka that made that jojo fanfic why do they always write such peak. i haven't watched the new one though, i didn't even know that existed.
