My theory is:

I don't think there was anything ever implied of a real connection between the two, other that it's pretty much the only viable employment option for most village graduates due to the overly specialized training they go through there.
Sensei can only really do her job by fucking with the kids and then the faculty and Momiji and Kuro are oddballs to put it mildly.

These are both points about the nature of Konoha and Satoko's relationship I've seen previously brought up in threads, the author definitely reads online discussions.
