The main reason ppl push back on Jiji x Aira is because it’s a predictable trope. But there’s nothing wrong with using a trope when it makes sense, most things that work in stories are tropes. Momo x Okarun is a basic trope and many think it’s the biggest appeal of the series.

Tatsu can maybe get away with shipping Jiji with Vamola since she’s apart of the core group (she literally lives with Momo) but pairing Aira with Kinta, Zuma, Hase etc would be more forced than just pairing her off with Jiji. Jiji is a more prominent character than them and naturally gets more screen time so it would be easier for Tatsu to develop Jiji x Aira on screen as a subplot instead of “building” most of the relationship offscreen or through Omakes if he paired Jiji/Aira with another minor character.

I keep seeing this irrelevant complaint as if Tatsu puts all the side characters in chapters every week. Jiji, Aira, Kinta and Vamola literally didn’t exist for nearly 50+ chapters in the Danmara Arc, they didn’t have a single appearance, reference or mention and it’s routine for all of them to take turns going missing for 15+ chapters (4 months irl) and they’re supposed to be the “main” group. Rin, Zuma and Kouki show up even less than them.
Okarun and Momo are getting the focus 95% of the time, if you don’t like the story blame the stale vanilla MCs and not the side characters, they’re the characters the Arc always revolves around, especially in terms of the romance.

Op 2 grew on me a lot I have to say, I ended up loving it from start to finish it had a sort of dark, melancholic yet fighting spirit. You probably hated it because at the very end it is a shonen opening, while Otonoke was something unique and very memable.
