The only “X the Reddit” claims I can accept are for anime that are overly pretentious, have obnoxious fanbases, and try way too hard to be something they’re not. So the only shows that truly qualify as redditcore are CSM S1, FLCL, the Monogatari series, Steins;Gate, Sonny Boy, and every other tryhard show.

I remember that season. It was mostly ignored on reddit the first few episodes, and it got popular only toward the end. Even then, they overwhelmingly preferred the CSM anime, while here on /a/ the CSM anime was hated and Bocchi won the AOTY poll. This caused a lot of redditors that browse here to get butthurt over Bocchi and spam the Bocchi the reddit meme.

I liked Bocchi as a comedy, but I felt it didn't actually explore musicianship that much. Music was basically just an activity they did, like in K-On.
Beck is a very millennial-coded anime that zoomers would probably not like due to the low production values and disoriented plot. But I think it's the best music anime in terms of exploring musicianship, and capturing the vibe and aesthetic of being an underground musician.
Nodame Cantabile and Euphonium were also pretty good music anime. Nana was okay, but way more focused on drama than music. Same with GBC. Don't recall if I've seen any others...WA2 I guess? Carole and Tuesday, but that was garbage.

I don't actually care if a show is popular, but the intentionally badly/weirdly drawn reaction faces genuinely makes me think "this would be popular on reddit". Why can't anime girls just have normal expressive faces, or if exaggerated, at least make them cute, because cute is justice. When an anime girl is surprised, you can add comic effects or make exaggerated mouth, but the in your face full screen ugly "funny" faces just feels like a low class meme.

I guess it's kind of okay since Bocchi is supposed to be ugly NEET, Kita and Nijika being actually cute saves it.
