Around mid 2006. Sure the Fate route has a number of problems but then again all three routes had their issues in some form or another; however nothing in UBW or HF comes close to the atmosphere of Fate. The mystery; intrigue and sense of being a fish out of water in a scenario where your PoV character could die a pretty gruesome death at every corner made the route peak. And even its pacing issues are solved affter the plot leaves the Einzburn forest. Gilgamesh and Kotomine together are the best antagonists in TM in general too.

Because Deen is retarded but knew it would have made more sense for an anime to give closure to every major character instead of ignoring them entirely and thus gave a mediocre arc to give Sakura decent screentime.
