Haruhi
What's the consensus on the watch order?

go back in time to 2006 and watch it in the wacky fun order, or just skip it and rewatch Frieren instead

Chronological is how you should watch it and how they aired it for season 2. Broadcast order was for giving the show some artistic flair because they didn't know if they'd animate more of it. It doesn't make sense to watch it in broadcast order now that we have S2 and Disappearance.

The patrician watch order is the first season in broadcast order then stop there.
Anonymous No.283518806 [Report]
Watch the 2006 version in broadcast order, then the 2009 version (all 28 episodes) in chronological order, and finally the movie.

>what if there was a bossy annoying girl who liked you and dragged you into club activities
Did this really blow people's minds when it came out?

If you go back to 2006 please take me with you.

Broadcast for first time, Broadcast or chronological for rewatches.
You must watch all of E8 to fully appreciate Disappearance. No 2x speed or any of that shit either.

Broacast order
There is no reason to ever watch chronological
Ever
It's simply a worse show if you do

what if I watched all of Endless Eight, but watched the Sigh episodes mostly at 2x speed?

Then you didn't watch the show
Anonymous No.283519901 [Report]
If broadcast order is the correct one why are the episode ordered chronologically? The broadcast order is fine as something to experience once but it's not the definitive way to watch it.

Release order gives you the best emotional payoff.

Broadcast if you have had no exposure to it previously. Chronological S2 including all of E8 if you are watching it again, which is mandatory before you watch Disappearance. This is the only correct way to get the maximum effect of why this show was so special for so many back in the day.
Anonymous No.283520933 [Report]
>>283518343 (OP)
watch all episodes at the same time
Anonymous No.283521990 [Report] >>283523664
I watched it in broadcast order and it was hard for me to follow and understand. I'll watch it in chronological order during my rewatch (including all of Endless Eight again) and hopefully it will be able to have a better effect on me when I do.

chronological order sucks all the magic out of it. you'll get the story, but you won't even catch a glimpse of the haruhism that bewitched so many back in the day

It's meant to be a little disorienting, just as the events of S1 are for Kyon.

Your rewatch will clear a lot of things up that are left somewhat hazy in Kyon order.

Broadcast order aka chronological order.

technically the correct answer is release order, but correct release order means you'll watch in chrono order as a consequence anyway.
yes, that means watch S1 in broadcast, then when you watch S2 you ought to watch it how S2 was broadcast, with all the S1 episodes again.
If you don't want to do this just bump live alive and someday in the rain to the end before the movie
Anonymous No.283525250 [Report]
The only watch order ever correct for anything upon your first viewing is by release.

Anime in general blew my mind in mid-2000's tbqh, it was like getting access to TV of some weird alien planet.

I was also confused when I watched this recently. It's not bad, but it certainly profits from nostalgia goggles, or people were just more easily impressed back then. Or they were just horny for bossy girls, who knows. I don't regret watching it, but it's not the hot shit that some people want to make you believe it was. It's also certainly not me just hating on old stuff, I've seen older shows that were better. Not long ago I watched LOGH and Azumanga, and absolutely loved both.

Massively influential shows like Evangelion or Haruhi can be a bit underwhelming for many new viewers who grew up in the post-Evangelion/post-Haruhi world where the DNA of those works is all over anime that came after them. You had to be there basically.

>You had to be there basically.
You mean you had to have had those as your first anime because plenty of anime before them are better.

I disagree, tons of newfags enjoyed Haruhi just as much as oldfags. It just depends on how much you click with the show and its themes of self actualization instead of thinking it's just "girl makes you do things". I like it far more than LOGH or Azumanga since that other anon brought them up.

Good taste is needed basically

It's really good but not the best, but people definitely exaggerated how much people say it's good. There aren't many people who try to claim that haruhi is the greatest anime ever unlike how some suggest. It's probably because harihi fags have watched more than five anime unlike people like evafags who obviously haven't since they make the exact same worthless threads every day they literally think asuka is the more attractive anime character every because that's all they've watched.

"The greatest anime ever" is a pretty meaningless statement. I can call Haruhi a masterpiece, one of my favorites, and say why I love what it does and how thought provoking it was (for the people it clicked with), but "the greatest ever" is a stupid dick waving contest that doesn't really say anything.
Anonymous No.283526518 [Report] >>283526555

They didn't reshape the landscape of anime in their image like Haruhi. LOGH especially is a unicorn, there will never be another 110 episode anime with the scale, grandeur and feel of LOGH. It's a completely unique experience.
>>283526391
That doesn't contradict with what I said and I agree with you. Having seen billion post-Haruhi anime and hearing all the hype about it can make Haruhi an underwhelming experience for someone watching it in 2025 but it's not inevitable. You can still click with the show despite all that.
