Man what a great movie
>Only adapted maybe 1/4 of the manga, at best
>the other 3/4s will likely never get a follow up
Well that's unfortunate.

I heard that the next movie Hayao Miyazaki is working on is somehow related to Nausicaä

Why did she take off her mask again?

Miyazaki will be dead long before another part of Nauseaca gets adapted. Maybe his incompetent son will try to roll that out.

It wasn't really a manga adaptation, Miyazaki didn't write most of the manga until the movie was years old.

The movie is a very condensed "greatest hits" album, I would say at LEAST half the story, if not three quarters is missing entirely from the film. The film does a very amazing job of foreshortening a lot of the character development of characters like Princess Kushana, Kurotawa, and Master Yupa. The Manga really expands on these characters and there are many other characters and plotlines that don't even appear in the film at all, I'm just telling you, it really changes the story quite a bit.

If anybody is wondering, Shuna's Journey is also truly excellent but disappointingly short, another Miyazaki work that would make a great film or anime.

And the original "Princess Mononoke" manga is fairly neato, way too short, but in this case, it's the anime film which is way more expansive. The manga is a cool little bedtime story that bears almost no relation whatsoever to the film of the same name.

But the Nausicaa Manga is a masterpiece. The film alone does not really do it justice. If it got a proper, full adaptation, there isn't much it wouldn't fucking mog.

I didn't even know that.

But yeah, imagine if Princess Kushana was like twice as cool and had ten more hours of story beyond the anime. That alone should tell you what the Manga is worth.

we live in the day of nostalgia, reboots and sequels
it's almost guaranteed to get a remake in the next 20 years

Imagine my disappointed when I saw this image and her design in the movie was 90% obscured by a cloak.
