I am not sure if I want band anime to replace idol anime. They are about a band instead of idols, which in my opinion kinda puts a cap on where the story can go: it's easier at the start, because the goal of making a band is simple and straightforward, but once you get there writing sounds very limited to me. The "making a band" storyline is maybe at best just the intro to a band centric plot.
Getting gigs, promotion, rehearsing, writing music, performing, gear, bandmate relationships, festivals, etc. are all part of being in a committed group.
Bandmates relationships drama is the most easy one, personally I dislike it but I won't deny that it's one of the biggest, if not THE biggest, issue in being a band. It happens all the time, and one can find inspiration everywhere to write this shit. You see it too in idol groups, so it's just the same, but instead of them all being vocals, they perform with instruments.
Also, dunno about your preference in music, but band idolatry is real and big just like idols themselves (think about all the western scene based on rock bands). And there's idol worship of people who play in bands, think of all the famous guitarists, drummers, bass players (lul), singers, etc.

Anyway, personally I've always perceived music band stories as being more... rock based, with this diy rock/punk spirit, the struggling of the new band, romance, loss, etc. a bit more like you would read in a seinen manga.
Mixing idols which are a staple of big money, pop for the masses, otaku culture cash grabs, with music bands which are always more about breaking through the mainstream, sticking it to the big labels, etc. feels weird imo.
Sure, there are local idols, we've seen the documentaries of their struggles, all that shit, but I don't feel it it goes along well with the otaku product they are trying to sell.

On the other hand, I find many of the concert performances technically sloppy with often-out-of-tune vocals which assures me those are at least real performances. The Japanese Geosmin and Petrichor performances from all the bands were honestly pretty terrible technically. I invite you to download them and take a listen. The Shanghai performances were markedly better but also not perfect, likely as a result of several months' worth of additional practice. It's also worth noting that at least with Mujica, starting with the recent 5th Live, they made some changes to the parts, and Rico in particular seems to have handled her performance much better.

Meishan's bass and Coco's drumming are adequate. Not outstanding, and they don't get anything flashy, but they also don't fuck up. From a meta perspective, it's really impressive that they're able to do idol things and also learn and perform live with an instrument at the same time, not to mention the inanities of being seiyuu and the various things they have to show up to like radio shows. Where do they find the time? And even more props to Coco. You can easily fake guitar/bass live performances, and you can less easily lip sync, but you can't fake drums.

MyGO already did the whole "getting a band together" thing. Along with many others. Including the last 3 episodes of MyGO for Ave Mujica. There's nothing more to be said there.
Part of what makes AveMuji interesting is that they are successful. They don't really want for sales or specific venues, their issues are uniquely personal ones. I think it helps the show do its own thing. The whole Togawa thing explains all of it so why should they waste time doing what they've already covered in other stories?

You have to remember that she sees these events not necessarily as other people doing her wrong, but rather, she is lacking something that keeps on making these things go wrong in her life. Taki's two statements were judgements on Umiri's character, and they live rent-free in her head, further cemented by Nyamu's agreement. That's why she keeps on having her trust spergouts. She has projected her sense of self-worth and trustworthiness onto Mujica's reformation when, really she has very little to do with why Mujica imploded and then ultimately reformed and persists. Yet she keeps on thinking it's her fault to an obnoxiously self-centered degree.
