I would have liked to see her grow past Sasuke much earlier and more than anything I wish that her character arc didn't focus so much on her relationship and feelings toward Naruto and Sasuke. Maybe she could have struggled more with her training under Tsunade or something. I guess she did have moments where she felt useless but it always seemed to be in comparison to Naruto and Sasuke, instead of more focused on her own individual growth. Not sure if that makes sense. Basically, she had potential to be an excellent character but ended up being 'meh' because she lacked agency.

Proof? Either way, that's exactly why this love triangle is nothing more than a gag. It doesn't make sense like most relationships in the series, romantic and platonic. But it's pretty much spelled out in the very chapter that introduces Sakura and Sasuke. Naruto is a salty retard who tries to steal a girl from his rival. Except the rival is not his rival, and the girl is not the "rival's" love interest, cause Sauce doesn't give two shits about either of them. Oh, and the girl thinks the protagonist is an annoying shitter who meddles in her love life for shits and giggles, and she's kinda right. That's the joke. That's team 7's dynamic. It's all there in the chapter, and they don't truly move on from this dynamic until the very end of the manga.

Of course this love triangle makes even less sense after the time skip because Sakura has no reason to "love" Sasuke, and Naruto's gay obsession with Sasuke feels equally forced. Sakura's feelings for Sasuke are just a shallow schoolgirl crush she somehow failed to outgrow, unlike Ino who married a consolation twink, and Karin who actually had a reason to love Sasuke, as flimsy and cliche as it was. Sasuke marrying Sakura after treating her like shit for 699 chapters is even less convincing, and Naruto has no reason to end up with Hinata after ignoring her for 699 chapters and simping for Sakura.

All the main ships are laughably bad, and at least at the beginning of the manga the laughable part seemed intentional. Then they turned into edgy retardation, which arguably made them even funnier. The baby momma drama from Salad gaiden was pure schadenfreude. Then again, it's really messed up how much the author seems to hate his fans and his characters, especially the girls.
