It always felt a bit weird,
Like I know there's already myths of aliens being rapey but not only the author decided to follow that, but he did that whole thing of the alien "dicks" looking like huge sharp tools as some sort of joke but it only increased the awkwardness of knowing Momo not only almost got raped... This was weird aliens so I didn't really think much about it. What threw me off was the hot springs scene. I assumed that these people were obviously being influenced by a malign spirit or something like that, but it turned out that they were literally just a group of regular middle-aged Japanese men who decided to gang-rape a teenager. It's a bit odd when there's no supernatural excuse behind it. Nothing wrong with it per say, but certainly clashes with the mood of the show when it's not wacky aliens trying to do some probing but just regular people trying to rape for fun.

I stopped watching ecchi manga after watching high school of the dead when i was 13.
It was way better than whatever this is.

I don't think that was in the show, they were just villagers who worshipped the worm. There wasn't anything supernatural about them as far as I can remember, they were just people. I think it was stupid because the author reeled back heavily on this type of fanservice as soon as the manga got popular enough. At least commit to it, now it's clear the author did it either because he personally thought he needed it as a crutch to get readers or his editor pressured him to.
