His stats were updated just before he went off with Leon, but you have to understand that all he did was train with Leon for a little bit and kill a not even boss dragon he had no special attachment or rivalry to. Seeing as even an expedition to floor 29, babysitting, and training with his favorite Ais was a 'low stat increase' of 150-ish then I doubt his brief sparring with Leon did much.

His most recently stat increase gave him 1,385 total stats. You expect me to believe that's all from 30 minutes with Leon and the who-cares dragon when even Ais' power leveling gave him jack shit? It has to be post-expedition with the half-exp demerit. I'm sure the corrupted spirit had an absolute fuckton of Excelia but it also had to share it with I believe 23 other mostly high level people, several of who were also halving what they got.

You also have to understand it's taken people like 6-7 years minimum to get from level 5 to 6 and Bell's gotten halfway there in a few weeks.

Demeter: perfect if you want don't give a shit about the plot or adventuring seriously, this is your path of cultivation (vegetables)
