I disagree, even if I can see where it comes from, Boruto admittedly spends too much time aurafarming, but he still has interesting conflict with his ally, wich is a dynamic rarely exploited to the fullest in shonen, also I agree about how underwelming the prophecy was, but it was also a nice portrayal of its growth.

This approach was entirely understandable but the writers failed to make his situation worse because ikemoto doesn’t kill anyone in his manga.

Fair, many would riot if Boruto killed an OG, but this makes it struggle to create a sense of loss, I will say I still like it, but you bring up good points.
