I've seen this opinion multiple times, but seriously, it can only get better from here on. All of mankind is enslaved and can get eaten just for looking at the local ruler the wrong way. Even if egg is evil, it would either be equal as bad or better.
Plus Egg is part of the title and the main powerup, so of course it's a good guy, or at least will be once he reveals his true power

Not to mention it takes much much longer for the committee to decide which series to axe or not

according to Bakuman, assistants are usually being paired with authors based on skill level and style, but I guess this time the editor figured "his art is so shit, we need something that stands out" and hired him a real good assistant
