The background radiation of Sandro's modern writing habits is always present, especially in situations like this. Back in Ashura/early Omega, it did legitimately feel like even after taking a severe loss, a character still wasn't narratively dead. That they could make a comeback, improve themselves, learn new stuff. Or that they just got a bad matchup and with different circumstances they'd do better.
Now, Sandro still tries to PRESENT the illusion of that, with characters sucking off their opponents and calling their drooling braindead body awesome constantly, the audience informing you how thick the razor was and how high level both fighters were, ect, but it's hollow. It's obvious when Sandro is bored with a toy and they'll never come across as strong as they were(if they did in the first place), and only return to be stomped in a few pages by some other character to demonstrate that the other character has also "arrived".
