The entire batch is a complete disgrace.
- Gonron has the same issue of Otr of having a good idea that is poorly eggsecuted but with a much worse art and character designs. The monsters are the only good part of the manga but they are killed in one hit by Gonron. Even redesigning Gonron and his transformation and finally introducing his partner/rival (another bad sign) won't be enough to save the manga.
- Mage is trying to be like Gintama and early Sakamoto but with characters that have 1/20 of the charm and jokes that aren't funny. It MAY survive and become an exister if the editors aren't totally incompetent and push the author to do something good, like introduce the girl that was featured in the promo art.
- Hero Girl is just awful in every metric and I have no idea how it managed to be serialized. The art and character designs are way worse than in the oneshot, and the demon lord had the shitty [visible stats] magic of cheap isekai stories, which could mean than the rumored isekai plot wasn't dropped entirely.
It's a huge mess that make Hakutaku and Nice Prison look good and that may even let Otr and Harukaze survive another round.

Honestly, other than tradition, is there any particular need to keep things to a constant weekly cycle? Obviously One Piece is in a league of its own, so rules are bent only there and there's something to be said for a regular cadence where every issue of the magazine has (in general) the next chapter of every ongoing series.

But in practice why not start experimenting more? Have alternating "batches" every other week, or something. Might just be its too calcified to change, but it doesn't seem like there's actually anything left in the weekly well here. Newer hits, in general, seem to find better starting positions in less competitive manga (somewhat damning of WSJ since it means their heavy churn isn't actually getting them more hits) and seem to prefer the flexibility provided by those or the online "issues."
