The problem is people who work in the industry have already started to internalize westoid criticism of anime (and video games). They think people want censorship and whatnot, and even without being told they've started to change stuff of their own volition. Stuff like reduced nudity, no nipples, fewer pantyshots, no nopan, etc. In video games it's stuff like body type A/B, NPCs being unusually diverse for the setting, etc. That's the most insidious part: the west wants to create a situation where Japanese creatives police themselves. Of course it's good if they want to protect Japanese media from outside influence, but they also need to rip out the seeds that have already been planted.
