[SAD NEWS]
The Japanese government has introduced a new policy aimed at growing its anime, game, and entertainment industries overseas while protecting creator freedom.
During its latest Entertainment and Creative Industrial Policy Seminar, the Ministry of Economy, Trade, and Industry (METI) revealed five main principles, including one that stands out “No interference in creative works.”
This means Japan wants to expand its global content market to 20 trillion yen by 2033 without letting Western companies or investors influence how Japanese creators make their anime, manga, or games.
The plan focuses on long-term financial support, direct funding to creators, and better international promotion of Japan-made content.
METI also said the move aims to help Japanese entertainment compete globally, especially with the success of industries in countries like South Korea.
