It looks like they put a lot of work into this choreography. I just can't get past the CGI not messing with the rest of the show. The brief shorts of regular animation interspliced aren't helping either

Either should had gone full 3DCG or full 2d with still shots. This secuence show they have the skills for 2D animation of the routines.
Because the 2D and 3D CG do not blend at all

Biggest surprise of the season for me along with Sanda. CGI is problematic but everything else is excellent. Kabo's part was actually good.

It's a shame about the CG because I've been really liking this show's characters and I feel like it could have really stood out with a better budget. Although I do want to read the manga once this is over so the anime did its job.

Yeah, that was extremely adorable.
I'm actually liking this, but CGI aside, my biggest gripe with it is the directing. I feel the overall direction of the show is just ok/decent, not bad but not good either. I could like it more if it improves in that regard. The handholding scene is my favorite part of the anime so far and it's also due to being better directed than most of the series.

All the dancing looks the same quality to me (which the not great cg isn't helping with) so a lot of these scenes lose impact. I'm still enjoying them though.

Better lighting effects and camera work could've salvaged the 3D

I tried comparing the movements with the beat, and you can notice how in sync they are, but then the music cut the sounds that make it easy to tell the beat and I became completely lost.

So these are clearly mocapped from actual dances. Does anyone know if they post the original choreography (with the real dancers) anywhere? So we can see what it's really supposed to look like?

This scene was actually so fucking cool. God why couldn't the whole show be like this? Plague upon ye cursed CG.
