Sure, I can give some feedback. I'm gonna focus on the flaws because I think that'd be the most instructive so just to be clear, I think this is overall a good model.

The first thing I have to critique is your general anatomical construction. This is something that's pretty subtle and can be hard to give anything concrete for so I'm going to attempt to give a solid example that you can apply to everything else on this or any future models. To put it simply, the way you've constructed this girl's butt is subtly wrong. Pic related has about the same body/head ratio and a similar sized butt. But Ilulu's butt looks more like an actual muscle attached to the lower back muscles rather than a pad that has been inserted under the skin. Note how the linework outlining the butt area thins and disappears into the body right below the panty strings. This isn't a coincidence, on a real person the muscle of the butt is attached there as well, which is why there's a sort of V shape right around where the butt crack starts. There's a bit of that on your model but it doesn't quite get there, and it makes the whole area look just a bit off as a result. There's similar issues with the chest and upper back areas as well. This sort of stuff improves with time and practice, and I'd recommend studying up on your anatomy so you can make something that looks more natural.

Anatomy aside, I'd say my biggest issue is that I'm just not a fan of that kind of Warcraft goblin style where the hands/forearms/feet/calves are oversized compared to the body. They also tend to have very weird facial construction, which I'm not sure if you were going for. IMO this means that their faces, and by extension the face on your model, is a bit ugly. If you like Warcraft goblins then that's fine, but if you want to make the face more traditionally cute/beautiful, try making the mouth smaller and the eye features a little smoother. I'm hitting character limit so I'll elaborate next post.

I don't really have a good NSFW example of a 3D model that has what I'd call a "better" face so to preserve image limit I'll upload it to catbox. As an aside, I'd recommend checking out the twitter page in that image, as that guy does a lot of really nice short stack 3D models, so there's a wealth of positive examples to be found.

The biggest issue with your face, IMO, is that it's caught between a realistic face and a stylized face. There's a lot of detail in lip/nose/eye socket areas that you'd expect from a realistic render but not so much that it actually looks real. But there's too much for it to be cartoony. For instance, you have a lot of definition around the chin and above the lip (Particularly in the philtrum groove), and the lips themselves have a fairly realistic cupid's bow. But then the mouth is very long and the nose is small and very pointed in spite of a more realistic bridge/eye socket structure. My brain sees this detail and assumes that the face must be deformed in some manner. And it is, there's a clear attempt at stylization but the excess detail means it ends up falling into the uncanny valley. Compare with the attached image's face. Notice how there's very little detail on the mouth area, the nose, or the eye sockets. The character has a lot of the usual anatomical landmarks, the upper/lower eyelids, the lips, even an eye socket ridge, but by not being as pronounced or as detailed the face ends up looking more appealing. It also lacks a defined brow ridge at all.

I'm not saying realism can't work for this kind of thing but I think you have to decide if you want to create stylized models or realistic ones and stick to one or the other.

If you know what something is supposed to look like, you can take away details without losing the overall form of the image entirely.

Appreciate the feedback. I'll take another pass at my anatomy and see what I can do. My goal is to be more stylized, and I forgot to mention that I plan to draw over my models to create 2D renders for the game instead of going full 3D (I think 2D has more appeal in terms of porn).

My goal with the overall look is to have them be sort of an in between of WoW goblins and something more cute. I wanted that sort of large mouth, large hand kind of look but I understand now that might be a bit difficult to pull off so I'll probably tone the WoW aspect back by a bit.

I've also avoided looking at other artist's work in this kind of field because I have a nasty habit of comparing myself to them, and ending up getting depressed because I feel as if I'll be unable to reach their levels of success, when they're basically doing what I'm doing just much better, and they have an audience for it. I'll definitely look more deeply into proper anatomy lessons though as see what I can fix.

I kind of figured. That might be a tall order, but I've seen characters with these traits succeed (Hellmouth Imp comes to mind). Still, it's worth considering that Warcraft goblins look the way they do because they're a bit ugly on purpose, and the large limbs/facial features help them animate/"read" at low poly RTS/MMO camera distances. It's also because that's how Warhammer stylized their gretchin miniatures, but that's another story.

I understand, ego is a huge enemy in this sort of endeavor. I won't give you some reheated buddhist take about letting go and embracing the pure joy of creation because I paint anime figures and whenever I look at Grizzry Panda or Vertex Studios I want to kill myself. So instead I'll just say keep at it, practice makes perfect, and keep detailed anatomical charts handy. The model you've posted is already pretty good, your skills just need polishing. My 3D skills are a lot more refined than my 2D, so I figured I could make base models in Zbrush, give them rudimentary rigs and poses, and then use those as reference or tracing materials for the 2D scenes. Then I can also do the same for the environments if I need to, and whatever else calls for it.

Definitely. My idea is to just make a standard Visual Novel game with light turn based combat elements with heavy inspiration from Final Fantasy Tactics. I plan to make the goblin girls' outfits based on the class concepts from FFT too. I want to make it in Godot given the combat ideas I want to implement. Although I don't know how the majority of people in this thread feel about [spoiler]futa content[/spoiler] since that'll be the protagonist. To elaborate on the futa aspect for my game, the story I wanted to lay out was that Goblins were driven to near extinction and you play as "the chosen one", a goblin futa who is tasked by her dwindling tribe to find any other goblins she can to repopulate your race. All the other goblins would be female. Futa is probably my top fetish which is why I chose to do that, but I'm so early in development that it's not something that's set in stone. Maybe I can make it so that you can choose to either play as the futa or a generic human fighter who felt pity on goblins and has risen up to help right the wrongs of the past and save the goblins by dicking them. That would increase the workload by some degree, but if I keep most of the story and scenes the same then it wouldn't require too much extra work by just swapping out the protag models when needed. Plenty of other games do that anyway and I don't think it's a bad idea to appeal to more people if I'm able to. I'm open to suggestions.

Well, speaking as a professional software engineer it's probably not a good idea to start scope creeping your game before it even exists but you're also right when you say it likely wouldn't be a lot of extra work. The balance of widening your appeal without trying to make a game for everyone is a big part of design. I like the premise. It's simple, has immediate stakes, establishes motive well, and accommodates porn. Good foundation. I like FFT too but I do wonder if it's too cerebral of a game. Studies have shown that people get dumber when they're aroused. Well, I guess you could just make it easier if that's an issue.

Also, just remember that first and foremost you're making a game. So the game parts should be fun. I see a lot of eroge, particularly from westerners, being very boring or very grindy and I don't know why that is. You don't have to have a new sex scene every 5 seconds but the best eroge are also good games. That aside, my only suggestion is an Onion Knight goblin that never wears any kind of pants/panties. She can have a helmet, thigh boots, boob armor, etc but never anything covering the crotch/ass.

That's an interesting point. I had ideas of having a "skip combat" button or just making it pretty easy to play in general. I also had ideas of having different scenes play out depending on who you have in your party. Like having the thief in the party could allow you to find a secret passage which would give you a slightly different scene than if you had the fighter break the door down, etc. There are also ideas of having some kind of city builder and nation management once you get high enough populations from fathering goblins but that might just be over the line of what I can realistically do and what might just be too much for a porn game.

My main worry would be to have an unattractive protagonist. Male goblins are pretty universally ugly, and I don't know about you but I simply hate playing an eroge where my character is deliberately or accidentally ugly. Especially the 3D games that try to make the protagonist attractive, but end up being this really unappealing and it takes me out of the moment. One solution could be to make it more of a "silhouette" goblin protag, like you'll get the outline of him but all the facial features are obscured or made extremely faded, but I don't exactly know how many people would be receptive to play as a male goblin to begin with. To me, the protag is either me as a self-insert, or I'm some omniscient being guiding the female protag on a lewd path. I don't think I would like playing as a male goblin given the implications, and would rather play as a generic or faceless human fucking goblins because in this world goblin wombs don't discriminate. A halfing could be a decent compromise, as that might just make it as simple as a color swap for many scenes.

That is pretty ambitious. It's a whole new set of logic in the codebase, assets, game design work, etc. Not saying it's totally out of the question, a lot of RPGs have some basic management aspects attached to them like how Persona has the calendar system/social links, or Dohna Dohna has prostitute management for an eroge example. But you'll definitely want to get the basics of the game down first. A lot of western eroge gets stuck in development hell because developers see some initial success and suddenly want to make the GTA6 of porn games (Or they just get lazy and suck up patreon money forever).

Right. My first task is to just set up a virual novel system. That alone is the meat and potatoes of the game. I know there's already an engine for that, but I'd really like to have some kind of a game attached to it, and from my understanding it would be easier to code both a virtual novel and some kind of simple game into something like Godot, than it would be to try to code a game into an engine specifically designed for virtual novels.

Not a game dev but yeah Godot sounds like your best bet. Some people have done some pretty impressive work with VN engines like Ren'py (Monster Girl Dreams comes to mind) but if you're an amateur coder then you should stay away from engine work. It's complex and lengthy. From what you've been saying you'll just need some kind of scripted event handler wrapped around the combat, which could probably all be housed in some kind of menu system. Shouldn't be too hard if the logic is like Start/Continue game->Menu state->Event State->Combat State->Menu state. That's basically what Fire Emblem is, though obviously the combat far outweighs the start of chapter events.

Well, everything I said is just my opinion. Not like I can tell you a golden path to go down that will 100% work and please everyone. At this hypothetical stage anything could work if done right. Once there's an actual game it'll be easier to give concrete "Do this instead of that" feedback. And if you actually finish your game you'll be ahead of roughly 99.9999% of every other western eroge developer. But hey, maybe try a lewder version of that model, see how you feel. Could be good practice either way.

Exactly. What I wish more artists would do is try to incorporate the core design of characters into lewd scenes, like having them be in a state of undress, but still wearing identifying pieces of clothing to their design. Use aspects of the clothing to emphasize certain lewd acts. For example, with your mage here >>8835931, that boob window is perfect for emphasizing paizuri. You can then do something like having the cum spurt up from under her collar onto her upper face.
Also, like I was saying before, since the coat is such a large part of her design, you could have her keep it on while removing the hat and pants for any fully nude intercourse scenes. Alternatively, you could remove all her clothing, but still mimic the overall vibe of the 'masked mage' by throwing a pair of boxer shorts over her head so that they work like a sort of scarf. One could explain it away if need be that she gets off on huffing sweaty underwear so that's why she's wearing them like a mask, or go more the more vanilla route that she's just a silly gremlin wearing underpants on her head to cover her face because she's shy. You have so many options for building character just by using their design to inform their personality.

He doesn't really do complete series like "how to make a 2d rpg in godot", but he does individual mechanics quite well.

I'd say the head/shoulder ratio is about right for a shortstack character. They tend to have much larger heads and a near 1:1 head/shoulder width ratio is fairly typical. Hands look fine as well though I've seen a lot of artists lean on the smaller side to portray a more "dainty" look. That much is just preference though since you also get Warcraft goblins with big meaty extremities. I'd say you've nailed it, as there's nothing I'd really change without just nitpicking. Maybe finish the toes? Or if you want practice, try another pose or angle.

As for the captcha, yeah sometimes it just gets finicky. I've found that if I try to post with my VPN on, obviously I'll get bounced because 4chan blocks most VPN IPs. But even after I turn it off, I still can't post because the captcha will just break. It doesn't use a ton of bandwidth so if you can upload an image then I doubt it's your internet that's at fault.

As for pic related I took everyone's feedback as best as I could and I think I made some nice improvements, but I'm always open to continual feedback for the base design. Generally I tried to make everything on her a bit softer and got rid of excess details. I added eyelashes and eyebrows, gave her some tribal looking tattoos, made her hands,feet, and forearms a bit smaller, made her slightly more plump, separated out the boobs a bit, gave more definition to her areolas, and worked on her butt. The third image is the male version I tinkered with.

I also agree with his assessment of maybe touching up the detail on the feet, but also something about the eyes makes her look a little unhinged. I think it's because the iris is sitting a little high in the eye, and we can see the whites underneath it.
Actually now that I'm looking closer, the whole eye is a little weird; you have the pupil, iris, and sclera like any traditional eye, but either the iris is split into two parts, or the eye is sitting within either a deep eye socket, or an inflamed one.

Idk, maybe I'm over-analyzing it. Kind of a fan of the double-iris desu.

If I had to pick I'd say I would prefer a human male. I like the size difference aspect of human/shortstack interactions. Sometimes it's just for cute things like the shorties being unable to reach something on a high shelf and sometimes it opens up sexual possibilities like pic related. I wouldn't be totally against a goblin protagonist, and ultimately I don't think it's a huge deal either way, but my preference would be for a human male.

I'm internally debating if I should scrap the goblin protag idea and pivot to a human protag. There would be a couple of scene ideas I would have to axe, but it would also open up a lot more. The general story would remain largely the same and I would still be able to keep my futa ideas while also opening up to a much wider audience who want the male human protag role. It wouldn't necessarily be the exact game I would ideally want to make, but I think it would be naive of me to think that I wouldn't need to make any concessions, especially with game development. As for the general mood of the thread regarding the protagonist, I think you should take it as advisement rather than a hard rule. If you're thinking about potential customers, then remember this thread has a pretty small population. That said I think shortstacks have a pretty broad appeal, we're just a segment of the "shortstack enthusiast" market. A particularly tragic situation to end up in would be to have a successful game that you're not really interested in because you had to make too many concessions. Maybe a good idea would be to figure out what kinds of content are common dealbreakers versus what's just a preference. Like you know if a guy is more of an ass man he's not gonna drop a game in disgust because there's paizuri in it. Same goes for a lot of stuff, but there are things people don't want to even casually encounter. Off the top of my head stuff like bestiality, NTR, or sexual gore.

While I like the idea of being a goblin protag it's not really a dealbreaker if I shelve it. It's important to me that I make a game that people, and myself, can enjoy. If I only cared about futa goblins I could commission an artist or make some myself, but as a people pleaser I'm totally fine bending my original plans if more people get to enjoy my work. This thread is really the only place where I've shown my ideas and work so it's not like I made these grand promises of a futa goblin game that would disappoint a bunch of people who were previously interested. So I think I'll end up putting away goblin protag and replace it with human. I'll still get to make futa on goblin content, but I'll also be able to appease anti-futa crowd too with a marginal increase in extra work. The main point of the game is to impregnate cute and sexy goblins, and that's not going anywhere so I'll still be more than happy working on that. I can always make another game with a goblin protag after, anyway.

Having said all that, I think I'm pretty happy with the base model. She was actually supposed to be the protag and then I would just model different variants off of her to make new gobbos. My priority will start to shift to refining my 2D skills. I don't think I'm terrible at it, but I could definitely improve, especially if I want to make porn. I need to try to avoid making it look like I'm tracing 3D models as well. I want to refine my style too; I really like that kind of 'colored pencil' look but I'm not sure if I'm doing it justice.

It's such a unique look that I'm having trouble finding other examples. I'll post a catbox link below of one example I found to avoid wasting an image. It's got this almost controlled grungy look, mostly to the lineart and sometimes in the shading and coloring. The art is generally a little more loose. I really don't know if this style has a name so I just called a 'colored pencil' style because it reminds me of that. Even the old Final Fantasy Tactics concept art has similar kind of look, though they seem to use more crosshatching.

Okay, yeah I thought that might be what you were referring to but I wasn't sure. I think the biggest difference between this image and the one you drew is the variable line thickness. There's a bit of line thickness variance in your drawing, but the gulf between major form outlines and smaller detail lines is huge in the linked image.

Take the archer woman's green cloak for instance. The outline of the gold trim at the very edge, where the fabric is above the upper sleeve, is a massive thick line. It creates the illusion of depth in the form, making the cloak look more 3 dimensional. The thick outline is like the edge of the cloth that you don't see because it's in shadow. So some lines pull double duty as both outlines of the major forms and shading work. Additional shading is done by fainter lines, like in the hair or on the tunic. But detail work, like the filigree on the cloak, might not be outlined at all. It's a hard style to pull off digitally I'd imagine, just because so much of it hinges on the variable thickness and imperfections you'd get from a real colored pencil. FFT art has much more uniform line weights but has a lot more detail in the shading.
