90% of the motivation to make a porn OC is to make incredibly specific fetish bait because existing characters don't hit the same spot you want to see.
Most of it will be done by people with little money to commission a character design, and they're requesting because they likely can't pay for art on top of that. So the art is likely to be amateur.
Personally, I like seeing the OCs with crude art because it's fun to elevate it and toss someone a bone. Plus even if the art for the fill isn't the best, it can still be appreciated. Overall it's a pretty low-stress thread. You're basically making art that for the most part, only a single person will appreciate. It's like the art equivalent to a soup kitchen, you are donating your time for no real professional gain yourself and entirely out of charity and enjoying doing it.
I don't knew what you expect. Just characters who are inoffensive to your tastes? The regular drawthreads, especially the ones on /h/ or /v/ are going to be the ones that cater to more broad tastes because they're based off popular, widely seen characters agreed as attractive the the widest amount of people, generally.

To the obvious point on the gold, your right, it does make for an eye catching facade. Typically when she's thieving she is wearing that purple scarf/head shawl around her face from the second pic, which magically hides her horns, tail and scales if she wants to (hence why the second image only shows two of her horns).
