I would recommend you to completely get rid of Reflection Probe. Set it to 0.
Use a cubemap at a lower intensity (0.1 exposure, intensity is up to you) for "overall" soft light.
Use Cam Light at 1/4 of the intensity, if it messes with the scene lighting then go down to Layers > Culling Mask and set it to only Chara.
You can also get a generic Directional Light and enable "Additional Cam Light" under its settings, it'll turn it into a backlight which will always be opposite of where the camera is pointed and will give the characters and map (up to you, again, Culling Mask is good for that) a reflection.

And a good tip for loading maps in Studio after you save them.
Disable most things in the map.
Set them in folders so you can disable them in bulk.
Keep one thing that is recognizable to the scene to you and leave it enabled.
Some scenes for me took 5-10 minutes to load but once I disabled items (not deleted, just disabled), then I saved the scene with most things disabled, they took a few seconds to load and I just BLAM, enabled the items once the scene loaded and it was much faster than waiting for everything to load at once.

customScreenshots.rpy modifies the save location of screenshots, taken with S, to one of a few options. Easily customized.

customSaveScreen.rpy alters the save/load screens so that they have:
Infinite scrolling save slots;
Toggle-able save names;
Save page tracking beyond 10;
Buttons to move +/- 10 pages at once.

Using this as a mod should work on most wegs, any that do style shit or have dumbass code tied to their save/load screens will look strange or fail to be altered. Example, My Dorm S3.

Other files include a "The Guardian" specific custom save screen and a splash screen/startup video skipper.

I just finished this [Completed] game I've never heard mentioned before - Toro 7. Admittedly, not really a /vweg/ thing. There's some non-vanilla shit at the beginning of the game that gives this impression the game is some gay/tranny shit, but turns out it's completely isolated to the first few minutes if you don't actively pursue it. I'm mentioning it because it's a really solid game, mainly due to a great story and writing.

If you weaved in the side chicks with the main cast I wouldn't have a problem with them.
Something like, instead of the MC doing all these side story bits by himself he is accompanied by someone else and then you explore some relationship dynamics and maybe a jealousy angle or something of that nature. You can also give the choice to pursue the sidechick if you don't care about your relationship with whoever ended up accompanying you and depending on how you behave you could get a bonus for their route if you are doing a point system.
Doesn't even have to be a love interest doing this, your bro could hang around and that wouldn't feel so bad since the MCs lonely adventures feel somewhat tacked on and disjointed.
