Speaking of Friends in Need, it's amazing how a little detail can go a long way towards making a character far more understandable. Nicki may be a dumb bitch who's a major fuckup, but the simple fact that she covered my coffee when I was broke and was nice enough to try to play it off instead of teasing the MC about it when he was already embarrassed, something that was missing in the first script, means that I'm not going to be a heartless bastard to her. I think The Lost Guardian was a mistake. Never mind the whole plot being dumb, but the MC is like 50 years old and trying to get up on 12 year old girls. Before ep8, you have Sage's romance route. Getting on that route is retard-proof, that's why she's always the most popular LI in polls, you simply respond to all of her advances in ep2/ep3 and you'll be cemented on her route all of the way until ep8 no matter what you do. Then in ep8 you can upgrade and get on the "Sage path" or whatever DPC calls it in the WT. The only person you're forced to fuck is your ex-GF Zoey in a flashback, but other than that you can go the entire game and only fuck Sage if you want. There is some forced attachment to Maya and Josy though, and Bella and Jill, whether you like it or not, but you never have to fuck them, it's just DPC creating story and drama. Around ep5-ep6 he stops forcing them on you so much, and you can dumpster their routes and ignore them for the most part.

The only thing to know for maxing Sage RP, is that she likes DIK status in the earlier seasons, you'll get a handful of +RP Sage simply for having DIK status throughout. But other than that she doesn't really care about status or affinity. As for scenes, the only thing to know is that she has a threesome scene at some point with Quinn, that you can't get unless you've been fucking around with Quinn too, so if you're a completionist and want every single Sage lewd scene you should also fuck around with Quinn. If you don't like Quinn, don't worry about it, the scene isn't that important.

Honestly I'd recommend playing Jill and Isabella's routes as well as Sage's, they all serve different quirks.
Sage is the popular, sexy and wild young girl, like the anon above said, retard proof but then you have Jill for the incels, she's so naive that at some points her route can truly be retardedly hilarious, it's worth it just for that imo. And Isabella's is more of a "forbidden fruit" style of run but I was pleasantly surprised by it, I was expecting it to fall of a cliff in terms of quality and engagement once we finally "conquered" her due to the the thrill of the chase ending but pinkcake is honestly doing a good job, you look at her in season 1 and in season 3 and it's night and day, fucking great character progression.
It's only Josy and Maya's route that I have an issue with, I honestly can't bother or care to deal with those two at the same time. And it's not like I don't like them, I like Maya, Josy seems like a bit of a brat, but I found their route extremely mid.

Heaven's Gate is surprisingly fun as long as you accept the girls are strippers and as such aren't going to be innocent. It's not like it's harder to plan or implement, but it is annoying since you are following a sequential story, in most VNs the plot moves forward while the MC is with a girl, the reward for spending that time with her is a sexual scene, along with the plot moving forward.

If you skip a girl, you don't care about her, so having the plot move while you avoid sex with said gobbo because you don't like her or whatever then (You) as a player might feel like you're dealing with a whole lot of grey noise for no reason.

It's a hard balance, I think, from a purely narrative standpoint.

I agree, everyone is there for the girls. Just saying that the balance to move a plot is harder to plan in a linear game, in a sandbox you can do whatever the fuck you want, since it's branched by default. Unless it is one of those where you are forced to fuck all the girls to move the plot like Lust Theory or the NLT games which are basically linear but with the sandbox tacked in.

I think Aurelia had it best, except for the minigames which is something I never cared for.

Yeah, that's hot. I already did some tests on choking animations a long, LONG time ago, in fact it's one of the first custom scenes I made as practice. Pic related is said scene with update lightning and a different character from back then, the collision is quite rough and I don't think the grip is very good but it's something.

I'll post the animation next, which isn't exactly the best and has a wild hand fingering, but to answer your question: Yes, I want some choking bitches. The advantage of having this big MC and the girls being tiny is that he projects an aura of physical power over them even though he's a fat bastard.

Though I still need to practice collision of limbs for better results, lately all I do is renders+scenery which gives me little time to practice animation.
