The mask completely hides the face and with that any information it offers.
You can't see their mood, their expression, or even their age or skin colour.
A drone or a person are equally as hidden from you.

All expression has to happen through body language (and in some cases a holographic face plate)
But that just means a person could stand still and you wouldn't be able to tell them from a drone.
And a drone could just be pretending to be obedient while actually being incredibly lethal.

It's the mystery of being able to look directly at them and not being able to know that's so appealing.
You can only see what's on the (shiny) surface, because that's all you're allowed to see.

They're a mix of cool but sexy. I think designs with a face showing can look good but more in a cute/sexy way. I don't know why, but the "badass woman in armor with fat tits and her face out" just feels kitschier than "badass woman in armor with fat tits, wearing a helmet." Maybe it's because helmets are arguably the most important piece of armor to have, so a woman with a helmet and nothing else subconsciously feels more sensible than the reverse.

Felt you anons would be best to ask about this.

Other guards are shown in an upcoming page of Abnormal Shift who will be more distinguished characters later. The original idea was for all the ZAP guards to have uniform looks but the main distinguishing factor would be different head-gear and slight alterations to uniform to tell them apart.

I'm now starting to wonder if maybe after this we should aim for giving them different mask designs to possibly reflect different specializations in the group.

What do you all think?

The idea I may go for with variation would be:
-Half gas masks with heads exposed (this may be reserved for guards that are deemed more important cause Sgt. Pepper doesn't wear a mask)

-Balaclavas with goggles either keeping the white eyes on the lenses or simply saying they've got specialized balaclavas with said white eyes on them (pretty much spiderman-style)

Alot of my goal is that I don't want the masks to be a pain to draw for the artist especially if it's with multiple characters. Having less little decorations on the current gas masks is better so just mixing up what the guards wear could save a hassle.

Also we are experimenting with some new uniform styles for later stories.

Is a mask alone enough to do it for you, or does it have to be part of a costume or uniform?

I also welcome recommendations where modding a protag into faceless gives good results as I want the protag to fit the setting instead of just putting HAYDEE into something like skyrim (medieval setting with magic).
