I've seen them described as

Artists get cancelled for literally anything, using toddler as a descriptor for tiny upper body build will get you cancelled only as much as Miku lewds will.

Nah I'm pretty sure people are much more accepting of miku lewds (see: Brazilian miku) than using "looks like a toddler" as a description for shortstacks.

If you look at midgets, their torsos are super stocky.
They're straight up built like mini fridges while shortstacks tend to be very triangle/pear shaped.
You just grab a midget and shrink the upper torso in the horizontal axis.

I'm not concerned with offending people with race-realism. All of my races and creatures have different degrees of intelligence and different behaviors. My problem has been that anything less than human intelligence has basically just been relegated to animals, and most everything else has been above human intelligence and often size, so making them smaller, with smaller brains, and thus less intelligent, would fit the trend.

And it occurred to me that being small and dumb might draw unwanted comparisons to children...

I don't mean to be disparaging, but everything about this looks great except for the goblin.
The anatomy could use some work:

I am not trying to be malicious and I don't want to discourage you from drawing, because your shading and coloring is quite decent, especially on the giant syringe, I'm just trying to give some constructive criticism even if I'm not the best at doing so. My suggestions would be:
>try to play around with how fabric would hang off of someone
>maybe toy with depicting the opacity of the fabric, so that the curves underneath are still visible through it in the right light, if you find they're too important to cover up
>perhaps reduce the proportions to be a bit more typical

No formal education, but they have plenty of smarts and learn quickly by copying and innovating on their own. Goblins learn by seeing and doing, and they've long figured out that sucking up to biggers will mean they'll have at least a modicum of protection and access to shelter and resources. That depends on the specific type of dwarfism they have. Achondroplasia is the most common type and just results in shortened limbs while the torso grows normally, resulting in that stocky look. But there are other, less common forms of dwarfism that just make you not grow at all from childhood, you just stay like that. Most of the time it has no effect on puberty and you can still grow big tits and ass.
