Had a concept ages ago for a mechsuit bound race that subsequently suffers agoraphobic esque anxiety when outside of them and frequently get assigned an auxiliary to help calm them when running diplomatic or similar jobs that require working without a suit. They're just used to a constant low level of pressure/physical touch.

Fantastic work! The big segments of his index fingers with their extra joint shielding flaring is very nicely done and looks very natural! The slender but very soft, fluffy looking antennae are also very appealing. And customary horny human thoughts abut long bug tongue.
I like coloring more than trying to get my lines right, but coloring can take a lot of time and effort. Your linework is really nice, clean and with a bunch of pleasant line-weight in all the right places. And also just the general construction, pose, anatomy and insect aspects are very impressive to me.

Its much more flowery and vivid, again like a fantasy/tolkein novel. Works well to reinforce the contrast the chapters of Eigen's perspective with all other chapters. Definitely fun to get the same scene from 2 different perspectives. Looking forward to seeing how freaked out Nithry is.

I would guess the reason we lean towards mantid and hymenopteran designs are that their angular heads have the most similar shape/construction to a human face

I'm glad people appreciate the line work, I've always found doing lines easier than painting for some reason. This is one of the few things I've done that wasn't just grayscale but I figured that he deserved to be in color. The construction took a bit to get right, kind of decided where the head and hands would be and had to figure out the rest of the pose from there. I wanted to put in some more insectoid features, like setae around his joints or some more complicated chitin, but just decided to keep it simple. Wish I could've gotten more abdomen in frame, but it didn't seem to fit.

Yeah, when I first drafted this story Eigen was just normal crazy. He was inspired heavily by Donald Crowhurst and the story would never enter his perspective, but then I decided that it's a story and why not have some fun with it? Let's just make him a man living his own literal fantasy! I like to think it still passes verisimilitude and it's much more interesting this way. I'd only ever written fantasy before this one, so funnily enough this is much more in my wheelhouse

It's especially difficult because his perspective isn't *exactly* a screenplay; it's a crazy person pretending he's in a screenplay, or at least that's the best way I found to present it. It still needs to contain some prose and it breaks a lot to imply the state of the mind behind it, so anyone who's read actual screenplays would recognize it as wrong, but it works. I think people reading it will tend to glaze over the person actually speaking and just read the text as well, but in a way that works, because it's all the same person anyway! There's a lot of playing around with the format to add some extra depth to the scenes, and hopefully people think that's as cool as I do, but it's definitely a lot more 'dense' than the other parts. I haven't heard any complaints yet, so that must count for something!

Also, sorry I never got around to replying to you last time, but I'm fine with graphic sex being in works. It's that what I consider smut is something whose sole and express intention is to be masturbated to, and I do generally look down on that stuff. It serves a purpose, but it's difficult for me to take seriously. I think if you've done a good job writing characters the reader shouldn't want to watch them fuck too much anyway. If it does happen, it's less me standing in the corner masturbating and more me standing in the corner cheering them on, if that makes any sense!

I had this kind of spec evo idea, but I'm not sure how it would work. What if there was a xeno species who couldn't masturbate? im not a writer but im worldbuilding the idea of a small interspecies research crew exploring a frontier planet (basically isolated from other populations, out on their own). this is just one of the characters so far. i will design them with clothes lol, theyre not gonna be naked.

Eldritch being keeps trying to temp him with knowledge and power but miner only cares about his next paycheck.

Eldritch being laser focuses on the guy who just won't fall for any of her tricks which eventually turns into an obsession, which leads to attraction as eldritch beings live so long that spending a few centuries being distracted by a thing is more like taking a quick coffee brake for them.

The miner just thinks she's a new hire the boss brought on since he said he was looking for more help and he doesn't keep track of all the aliens in the known galaxy so assumes she's just one of them and is clinging to him because she doesn't know what she's doing and all the "knowledge and power" crap she keeps spouting is just her trying to cover that up.

I kind of got bladerunner/Isaac Clarke kind of vibes from him. Eldritch being as a Shodan/Glados type would be very fitting.

Not sure how Miner gets ahold of or encounters the phenomena Eldritch being uses to invade his psyche. Comes across a crystal/totem/altar that looks out of place (Imagine being apart of a crew, the first one being sent to mars. And your team finds a skeleton made of bismuth holding a metal cube in the middle of a red desert)

Miner could be Eldritch Entity's chance to escape a prison binding her to a separate plane away from sentient life. Keeps trying to bargain/nudge him to complete a ritual to bring her to Miner's plane of existence.

That's tricky to see what would mesh the best. Maybe how the Eldritch Entity ends up haunting the miner/spacer is also the plot.

Her alien (as in foreign to the reality humans call existence) origins end up limiting her influence over reality, and tries to get Miner to do her totally-evil-not-a-conjugal-visit-I-swear bidding to enter mortal reality.

How they meet also becomes a goal/conflict, that leads to development of issues and bonding between Miner & the entity. Conflict could be directly physical; Miner has to navigate tunnels and non-euclidean geometry, trying to escape the ruins of an alien cult before the presence of an old one melts his brain.

Or more of a mental conflict. Miner is a man that feels isolated in an industrial dystopia, working to send resources back to a planet he'll never be able to see. Miner starts to hear things around the digsite. Whispers about how it doesn't have to be this way. About how many grueling shifts he's worked is only going to line the pockets of people who hate him. And tries to maintain a facade of normalcy while trying to unearth whatever the only kind voice he's heard in years wants.

The Rachni could be reasoned with. They were a galactic boogeyman that survived several cycles, and caused several races to Uplift the Krogan to stand any chance against them.

The Geth were also pretty unique, setting had to nerf them, but for how capable/quickly advancing they were lore wise they must have been terrifying to run into. Their origins and hivemind style must have made their logic seem alien.

The covenant were actually quite darker than what we see in the games, sadistic infantry or glassed from orbit. The technological superiority was pretty insane, plasmapistols even were quite deadly. It's got be quite terrifying to be a rifleman and have a pissed off Mgalekgolo after you.

Weirdly, the way you phrased this post reminded me of the aliens in the Host, by Stephanie Meyer. The book is basically a mash-up of Twilight and Invasion of the Body Snatchers, and free humans would rather kill themselves than get caught, but eventually you learn that most of the alien races that were taken over by the centipedes basically just live normal people lives, despite their alien biology and inability to survive off their home planet.

The Entity can't really register in waking minds, only in dreams or under the influence of certain drugs. The race that worshiped her died long agon and she's been in a chunk of space rock for a while

Miner Anon comes across one of her priests' pendants in a chunk of volcanic space rock, thinking its a neat little rock and it doesn't set off any of the company built scanners that would say it's dangerous and/or valuable. He adds it to the necklace of polished stones he wears as a sort of good luck charm (It does work, have to keep the human alive long enough to bring her into the waking world after all)

The problem is Miner Anon is stubborn about earning a paycheck, so his sleep schedule is all fucked up so he doesn't enter REM sleep often. combined with Caffeine supplements to get him moving and sleep meds to conk out after a long shift, She can't gain much a hold in his dreams

Anon does however frequent the bar for booze on his off days, and now there's this strangely attractive alien chick who's super into him and says all sorts of funny stuff, like taking a shuttle to that nav hazard of a planet and "commune" with her in the ancient temple. Sadly, he's too drunk to really register it and the mind enthrallment doesn't stick

To make matters worse for the Entity, Anon's buddies see him talking to someone who isn't there, and think Anon's going off the deep end. The often cuck the Entity and her time with anon with different mental health exercises and occasionally the anti-psychotics they slip him.

So yeah, She's trying to figure out how his human brain works while it's constantly in an abnormal state and subject to outside influences beyond her in order to bend him to her will

This story is so odd, yet interesting. It's like it has all the story elements from more popular fics and premises from around here, but runs with them in different directions. Like a deconstruction. Made me interested enough to read it in one go and I found myself liking it quite a bit. It's still a really odd story, but I find Dale and Orith pretty compelling. They're very much the same in a lot of ways, but from different ends of the convergence's assimilation. It all feels like a cracked mirror version of a xcom viper fic, too. depends on the individual. some velts might enjoy lording their height over a human partner, while others are surprised to find they want to be man-handled by a smaller partner.

This is something i also think about a lot. As a human, you're going to have to do some climbing to get properly busy with a velt. finding the right handholds is crucial, and a strong core is necessary. being on top is the most advantageous position, but velts are active creatures, so expect many position switches. She's going to want to throw you around a bit, and she expects you to throw her around in kind. If you can handle that, you can expect frequent repeat encounters with your velt of choice.

Finally finished Mohrta today. It's got 4 endings (the secret one had a good twist) and a lot of fun weapons (including a playing card deck with magic rng.) I mostly played it for it's exploration and quests, but the gameplay and enemies made the stuff outside of worldbuilding pretty engaging, too. Wished the mainhub was bigger and the npcs had more dialogue but on the bright side, it being a gzdoom might give it a modding scene in the future. Would replay just to go through world 4, again.
