Is it unreasonable of me to not be friends with people who don't use headphones while in public or rooms with strangers?

Meh, they can still be a great friend. I have a buddy that's a bit rude like that but they're kind, smart and fun to hang around, they're just a bit oblivious to their surroundings. They're a bit like Kramer, sort of weird in the head I guess but well intentioned

So imo it should be more of a red flag but not a disqualifier outright. You'd maybe want to get to know them a bit to see why they're acting that way.

let me rephrase your question,

>Is it unreasonable to not be friends with people who are inconsiderate of the people around them?

If you point out to them that others might not want to listen to their music and they keep doing it, then take a shit in their breakfast cereal box and leave.

I is perfectly reasonable to avoid people who are so anti-social as to inflict their horrible noise on bystanders.

Eh, you can rarely judge people on one aspect. I agree it's infuriating and inconsiderate when people do that, and I wouldn't want to start a conversation with someone like that. But if you have existing friends, don't cut them off over something so trivial.

No. It's perfectly acceptable to not use headphones in public. It reduces situational awareness.

The question was
>Is it unreasonable of me to not be friends with people who don't use headphones while in public or rooms with strangers?

So I answered no. A lot of us without headphones in public do it because of the situational awareness. It is unreasonable to stop being friends with people who just want to pay attention in public.

The fuck? Are you deaf? I can wear headphones and STILL hear what's going on around me. If you need the volume to be so high to where I can hear the sound coming out of your HEADPHONES from across the room... then you're fucking deaf and you're damaging your ears.

If you care that much about knowing what's going on around you, don't be fucking listening to music at all.

Pick one.

oh i noticed i misread that as using headphones during social interactions. blasting music in public spaces when it's not appropriate is rude though so don't befriend them if you don't like rude people

You know it's funny, some of them go into meetings, or places where someone is teaching a class or giving a speech, and their phones are going off with these loud disruptive ringtones bringing attention to themselves.

But this is the funny part, they never consider putting their phones on vibrate... so the disruptive ringtones just keep happening... over and over and over again...

Either they don't know a phone can be set to be silent, or they're too arrogantly ignorant to learn.

I've watched the same people do it repeatedly, every single day. It's mind boggling.

>If you care that much about knowing what's going on around you, don't be fucking listening to music at all.
Yes that is exactly what I was and am saying. I am a person that does not wear headphones in public because I don't listen to music and just pay attention to what's around me.

That's cool if you can function with headphones, I'm not saying you have to do what I do.

I'm saying that me, and other people who don't wear headphones in public, because we prefer situational awareness, should be unfriended for not using headphones in public.

Time and place.
I mean, where at? Is this a hypothetical situation? Cars play loud music. Idk what the scenario is bro it’s to objective because there is always outliers. Idk be more specific…
I was walking to the store (2 blocks from my house) and someone was playing music on their phone loudly. I didn’t care.
The car that drives by with the SUPER LOUD BASS or the loud car engines irritate me more. Room would be annoying depending on where I’m at and why I’m there & what I’m doing I guess? Just depends man.

Eh, ending a friendship over one thing is gay, but it is a rude thing to do. There would have to be a pattern for it to end a frienship.

Of course you didn't care, because they're not your friends, you had the freedom to walk away, and you were only exposed to that for a couple seconds.

Now, imagine a situation where you did not have the freedom to walk away. No matter where you went, no matter what time of day, some piece of shit is playing their mumble rap trap shit on their loud speaker, while you're trying to get some peace and quiet.
