Hello Everyone, I was recently robbed at gunpoint and I'm pretty pissed about it.

Aside from the obvious reason of having my shit taken, I'm also pissed at the current moral dilemma I'm in. I have always been freakish with my memory for random shit, never anything important but for some reason unimportant codes, facts, etc. just stick in my head. My adrenaline was rushing and is again just thinking about it, so logically I could be wrong in my description of him because details are hard to remember like that, but I feel very confident I could give an accurate description of the guy despite them wearing what looks like a ski mask made of black silk.

My Dilemma is whether or not to give a description to the police at all. Chances are they won't find the right guy, even if all officers involved are working in good faith. Most likely to happen I feel is I'm giving some piece of shit pig a reason to say someone he doesn't like 'fit's a description'.

Could use some input from the community.

One of the first things they're taught in cop school is that victims' descriptions are never accurate. At most they'll provide rough outlines (if the vic says it was a 6' black guy it probably wasn't a 5' white women)

You don't just rob someone at gunpoint at once. A few reports and the police at least have an idea to be looking out for a certain guy in a certain area robbing people at gun point. Obviously not much they can do for your individual case, but a report might help get some degenerate off the streets for a bit in the grander scheme of things.

are you serious right now? Yes, obviously report the crime and tell the cops whatever you can to help them catch the guy who put a gun in your face. Why is this even something you're debating? This is literally why we have cops in the first place.

Cops donโ€™t care about you. Move on.

Unnecessary dilemma. Assuming you are in the united states, your description means little if you don't act as a witness in a case and agree that the chosen defendant is the defendant.
