I have been trying to find a job for about 4 months now. I have schizophrenia and I was out of work for over a year and a half so far and I went to a mental hospital for a while. I just want to work in fast food and support myself. I applied to many jobs and I have attended multiple interviews. They ask about my employment gap and I just say I was unable to work due to a medical issue. I will kill myself if I can't find a job. I am afraid I will apply to every place near me and be denied. I don't have a car so I can only work at jobs that are nearby. I hate not having money and I want to work again. How do I get a job as soon as possible?

Don't bother. Every schizophrenic I've ever known ends up jobless, homeless, and eventually run over by a train.
Your lucidity is fading.

Just lie on your resume. McDonald's doesn't give a fuck. Going in there and telling them you're a nut bucket isn't the right move. >>33211591 (OP)

I just got hired finally after a year of unemployment here in Americuck. It's not just you, a lot of these companies are assholes and post fake jobs and just waste your time. Also just lie, it sucks but yeah you may have to lie. I'm a Military Veteran and I couldn't get hired, soon as I took of my resume that I was a veteran I started getting replies at least.

TL;DR - Just fucking lie, these corpos shitheads don't care about you or anyone anyway

I applied to maybe 30 jobs of the same field/position/experience and I have yet to be hired
>bachelors
>years of experience and currently work at same company
>multiple interviews
Except I have anxiety attacks before interviews so thats probably why I cant get a fucking new job

Shouldn't it be the other way around?

it feels like we're in a job recession. during covid, everyone was hiring to the point where i got my 2nd job without even going through the interview process because they were that desperate.

I've also been rejected for every application i put out, now. i haven't put out as many as OP, but i have a feeling i won't be getting another job for the foreseeable future. the only thing that keeps me calm is i can still door dash to earn money, so i'm not desperate. i won't apply to fast food/retail shit.

Honestly, many companies hesitate to hire veterans because of lingering stereotypes like the idea that we're unstable or prone to PTSD-related outbursts. Itโ€™s an unfortunate stigma that dates back to the Vietnam War era. Even though it's illegal to discriminate, it still happens, just quietly. A lot of my military buddies ended up in low-paying jobs post-military or felt they had no choice but to reenlist back into the military.

I have a GED, and during my GED program, our orientation manager even told us that there is a stigma towards people with GEDs (probably that we dropped out of school for delinquent behavior). i am reluctant to put it on my resume, and i want to do something in college so i can just put that as my education instead.

like you said previously, just lie. how are they going to verify, anyway? hiring managers are lazy fucks who probably don't even care.

And now Trump and congressional republicans are instituting a work requirement for medicaid, so you will be kicked off your health insurance because you can't find a job and lose access to the meds that make you lucid. What a great country we live in, eh?

Its not just a stigma I'm afraid. Almost everyone I've worked with who was an Iraq or Afghanistan combat veteran had personality or mental health problems, and several got fired as a result of it. I wouldn't want to hire veterans.

We had some black guy at my job lie about having a Bachelors degree. I didn't care really neither did my manager. Unless you are applying to federal jobs or jobs that specifically state they do educational background(most don't) who gives a shit.

In a good economy the average job hunt takes 6-9 months.

If there was a draft, or we were actually fighting a war of national self-defense rather than imperialism I'd respect them more. People only join the military for the benefits they think they'll receive upon completion of their term. They're mercenaries, and should be treated as such.

Same. We're both in recruitment hell. Sometimes I even think that I'm absolutely useless to the society. But then I see that there are people who have it way worse, so just hold on and keep searching
