Should NEETs just suck it up and get a shit retail job ASAP or should they try with smaller things like exercise, hobbies, and routine first?

If they are 14-18, figuring them out piecemeal might be a better approach.

After 18, spinning all those plates at once is a basic minimum expectation of a serious adult.

Wagie job opens up the world to you. You're not making stacks, but you can rent a room and be your own man instead of suckling a tit.

99.9% of the time yes. Like let’s be real. 99% of NEETs are sleeping to noon and playing video games all day. You’re better off with some structure imposed on you. For the <1% of them who are doing something much leverage with their time, maybe not.

You can rent a room so you actually have a place to suckle a tit

Who's renting a room on retail pay? It's $1200 minimum for a cardboard box in someone's basement around here.

depends on the area obviously. Where i'm at a room is still more than you should realistically be paying just to rent a fucking room, but it's still affordable on min wage.

I rent a room in NYC in a shared apartment with 3 roommates for $775 a month. It's doable.

I would be kicked out in less than a week.
I am over qualified.
No shit tier job is going to hire me and keep me.

Have a plan, certainly, but something is better than than analysis paralysis.

I was a NEET for a few years and I got a decent job recently which I think I can last in for a long time. I tried a couple of shitty jobs for a fortnight at a time before landing on this one and they were so bad I basically gave up on applying to jobs and when I did try applying to shitty jobs again I didn't hear back from any after applying to hundreds. What I will say is: I encourage NEETs to find employment but I also understand not wanting to work some jobs. The trick is to find a shitty job that suits you. I don't want to say exactly what I do and who I work for because the market is already kinda flooded but basically I spend a lot of time driving and don't really have to talk to anyone when I work and it's perfect for me.

Oh also, you get to a point as a NEET where you're just so fed up and bored of being unemployed that you will be happy to do any job you can get basically.

My first job after twenty years of being recluse is lawyer. Nobody knew me so no clients. Now I have to study more and take an exam so I can be judge or prosecutor.

My advise is basically to keep applying to jobs until you find one that fits basically. Could be working in a warehouse, in a restaurant or idk maybe even the military. Personally whether I enjoy a job or not heavily depends on the people I encounter regularly so if I have good co-workers or work alone the job would suit me fine.
