Why do people do things?
Seriously.
There's this old man down the street from me who I see in the morning when I drive to the gym who waters his plants every morning. But like why?
Why does he do that?
He probably has a wife and kids and stuff. Probably got a retirement plan and a nice car.
Why does he do things?
Why do I do things?
What the fuck even is life, honestly?
How do other people hold up for so many years, doing things? And not just doing things, but often doing the same things over and over again.
How? Why?
How does any human being on earth not tap in to a meta-cognitive vantage point for two seconds, and realise that they can't logically justify why they do fucking anything?
Even this thread. I have no fucking clue why I made it. I probably shouldn't have.
Maybe this is why people cling to religion, and God. Because adopting the axiom of being a prop of divine will, where everything you do is predetermined, is definitely more comforting than the alternative theory that we are all just improvising with this absurd, heightened level of self-awareness we can't explain.
