Best substance to forget? I tried booze yesterday but I kept thinking about this image and how it could've been me and my ex
>>33218319 (OP)you wanted to make dororong dolls with your ex??
>>33218319 (OP)Exposure is the best way to process it and then you can let it go. Substances give you the illusion of being able to forget, and it always will come back stronger.
>>33218319 (OP)Time.
Substances are a bandaid. They dont actually make the problem go away. They just pause it. And do a fuck tonne of other damage to your life in the process.
Don't be an edge lord. We all had to go through difficult times. The only way out is through.
>>33218319 (OP)Don't drown yourself in substances, it only helps for those few hours when you're pleasantly drunk or high. The feelings come right back the next morning along with the hangover.
>>33218408This is really the only way. When my ex dumped me a few years ago I badly wanted to drink, but I also badly wanted to spite her so I gave up drinking for a little while and lost a bunch of weight. I was miserable and it didn't bring her back but in the end I think it was an important exercise for me. I ended up picking the bottle up again due to work stress and gained some weight back (btw it's pretty much impossible to be fit and a regular drinker, you have to pick one), but now I know what I'm capable of.
>>33218319 (OP)>"tried" reading books but decided instead to self-flagellate like a subhuman moron devoid of agencyI won't read willfully ruminating fuckwit threads.
>>33218319 (OP)>Best substance to forget?Benzos, but only for things that happen while you're high. Dissociatives cause amnesia, but you forget things like language and that the dancing cat isn't real. Opioids make you emotionally numb, but you really don't wanna go down that rabbit hole. An occasional psychedelic can help you think about things differently and uncover deeper issues, but the real work has to be put in sober.
Most of these are physically harmful, and all of them can be mentally harmful. The other anons are right, substances can't solve your problems, only you can.
>>33218319 (OP)>Best substance to forget?hard work.
You have to lose yourself in a productive task, like working or volunteering, or working out. You can also work hard at a video game if need be.
forget about the ex dw about it. another one will come along
Hi OP, I've done most common drugs except the lethally addictive ones(meth, heroin), any substance will work. Smoke some of weed and it'll take your mind off things.
I also lost my relationship a little over a year ago; I spent months and months abusing drugs to avoid how I felt. Whenever I was sober the feelings came flooding back and I would need to use again to forget. Eventually I was rolling joints as soon as I got out of bed, high 24/7. Over time the drugs caused me a lot of problems. My mental state, anxiety and depression worsened over time. I spent a lot of money, sustaining any drug habit is expensive.
Eventually I got myself into counseling. Counseling is expensive, but not as expensive as drugs. It was hard to face feelings that I had let grow this whole time, and at first I was in a lot of pain. I got myself sober, worked through the hardship, and I have been putting myself back on the path to making a life for myself.
The pain doesn't end when you use drugs, the pain ends when you have moved on.
