Hi Anons. I was bit by a tick. I discovered it last night but it must have attached itself at least a day prior. After finding it I removed it entirely and cleaned the area with rubbing alcohol. Now my biggest concern is tickborne disease, particularly lyme. From what I've gathered so far, my location and the time of year are both favorable for lyme. I don't have any of the symptoms, including the characteristic rash, but those may not happen right away iirc. Antibiotics would be the normal treatment but I found picrel from the CDC that says not to take them after tick bites to prevent disease. So am I supposed to wait until there are symptoms?

I went to a local urgent care office but they want $200 just to talk to someone. I get it but I'm a poorfag and don't want to pay a guy to tell me to wait and see. I decided to hold off until tomorrow since apparently a week is the low end of the onset time. What more advice can anons give on this dilemma? Did I make a mistake not getting care asap?

tl:dr tick bite, what do?

how big was it? Dog ticks don't carry lyme disease, only the smaller deer ticks do.

It was maybe about the size of a lima bean.

Hospital. Bring tick.
If lime, antibiotics. If alpha-gal, bullet. Not worth living without steak.

So you think the hospital is the better route? I assumed the er would be the most expensive. Worth it I guess if they can just knock it out. Also I think the er writes a bill that I could pay later...

I should mention too that the bite was in a really private area. Like 2 inches behind my scrotum. It's fucked up and I dread getting spread like a camwhore for some rando doctor to examine me.

Check out a map of reported Lyme disease cases and don’t worry if you’re not on it. Look for a bullseye pattern around the bite and if not, don’t worry about it. Doctor would not do anything but inject mercury and aluminium into you, if they even care. Anyway, they’d want you to do these things before seeing them.

*I did go to the doctor after pulling a dead tick form a bullseye that I received in an area on the map. The doctor took a picture of my face and told me it was for herself and put it in the medical database and told me to F off about the tick bite.
