I had an energy drink for the first time since middle school today and was unable to sleep entirely. I got 3 of my assignments done that I had put off for the last 2 months and spent the rest of the night walking around my neighbourhood. I talked to my mom afterwards and apparently we have a genetic predisposition that makes us ultra sensitive to caffeine, so much so that my mom’s family can’t have caffeine at all without crazy anxiety immediately. How do i weaponize this without becoming addicted/nuking my tolerance? Is there a certain amount of caffeine or interval I can have it at that will prevent me from building tolerance? I don’t have an addictive personality at all.

This is extremely complex and multivariable. I can tell you two semi useful things.

>rule of thumb for optimum caffeine dose with the most benefits (drinking more will build tolerance faster)
Your body weight in lbs divided by two inches mg.
As in if you weigh 150lbs, 75mg of caffeine is your optimum dose

>time for body to fully reset most tolerances
2 weeks.

So use as needed, if you find it isn't doing as much, abstain for 2 weeks.

It's not just caffeine it depends on the type of beverage. For me I get that kind of insomnia if I have coffee even only in the morning, but I can drink a Rockstar at 5pm and sleep just fine.
