>>33222666Indeed. There are two great filters to art. One is taking the time to learn an instrument, to learn to paint, draw, animate, whatever. The second great filter is having "it", that inspiration, as you say, that is captured after years and years of skill honing. Some people get past the first filter but can't get past the second. Many people have good ideas, even great ideas, but lack the skills because they didn't take the time.
However there's another truth you must reconcile: Every one of your favorite artists started when they were young - exposed to art, music, what have you from the time they could walk. Regina Spektor (famous pop pianist) was given piano lessons in childhood. Mark Kozelek (indie rock legend) was given piano lessons in childhood and then guitar lessons in adolescence. It goes on. You have very, very, very minor exceptions in Steve Albini (indie rock legend) who took up guitar at 21 and ran with it until the day he died, but they are the single minded exceptions that didn't allow themselves to get distracted by all the things adulthood involves.
You and everyone else are handicapped because the internet is a distraction and a half. Read: If you want to achieve your artistic ambitions, you will never come back to 4chan. You will simply do whatever it takes to capture your inspiration and bring it to life. Taking lessons, going to work to buy equipment, etc. Day and night. Over and over. You're not alone, I'm in the same boat. I was doing so good being away from 4chan for 8 months and I came back since I'm now in a rut. Gonna ditch the place again after tonight. Good luck.
