Savings, loans from family, low down payment deals. In some places you can get grants for buying fixer-uppers or houses ovr a certain age, etc.

Their parents are helping them out and they're lying about it. Pretty easy.

They buy it on a 30-year mortgage. Often with their parents co-signing or even making the downpayment. They just omit that part.

Rents and mortgage costs tend to track each other. The amount of extra income (in the form of a raise or second income) that wuld make rent easier might make buying possible

American here. I'm 26 male single, no kids, wife etc.... I did 3 years in the Military got out and got a brand new house all by my own. You could try giving 3 years of your life for Uncle Sam if you want. All my neighbors are older couples who have combined incomes I believe or others have rich Daddy and Mommy money or have good paying jobs through Nepotism.

Don't do this right now, where half of our "allies" are choosing to start shit all at once.

Pay less rent. Find an old persons basement or a trailer park. Adjust the withholdings on your taxes to generate more to squirrel away in something that pays interest and get 20percent for a down. When you buy, it will be a struggle for a couple years but it will eventually be cheaper than rent.
If you always save ten percent of what you make, you’ll always have more savings. You’ll have an extra year’s income in the bank, in about six years or so. There is plenty more to it but you do not need a rich dad or a great job or any special deal.

Nepotism so they get a high paying job and having a rich mommy and rich daddy is how these people do it.

Lower your expectations. It's basically a pipe dream these days to own a home if you don't have rich parents to help you out. I'm not saying you'll never do it, but release yourself from the idea that you're behind in life just because you're struggling, because damn near everyone's struggling. Even people from working/middle class families, whose parents are comfortable but not comfortable enough to shell out.

work, live at home, save money, invest money, put a down payment in a low CoL area.
at 28, that's 10 years of saving on minimum wage, not to mention eventual seniority, experience, and time to learn a skilled trade.
it's really not that hard
