Why should I trust doctors when they are the only people profiting from me being sick? Isn't their goal to keep me as unhealthy as possible?

Most doctors feel satisfaction amd derive meaning from helping people. Not all of them but a lot do.

Doctors are human beings and believe it or not usually get into the career field to help people. Not profit.

it is always better to do your own research, and ask for certain things (provided that those "certain things" aren't opiates or benzos).

You can trust doctors to diagnose you correctly - however, you can NEVER trust them to treat you correctly.

Nta. opiates is a big beef. Why do so many people need to suffer life in pain and take all kinds of off-label slop when nature has provided the solution in poppies? Technically they make their money off kissing up to the insurance companies who do NOT have your best interests at heart, then they make money off kickback programs from pharma companies trying to make you a life long addict, then they make money by being hyperauthoritarian toward the state licensure board who permits them to pay off their student loans. Long after all that, they might want to keep you coming back endlessly or as a very last ditch they might want to actually help you.
Maybe it shouldn't be, but its your body and your responsibility to take care of it, nobody else will give as much of a shit as you will, including your doctor.
