I'm looking for a standard 9-5 office job. What would be the best degree to pursure in order to secure a half-way decent and stable office career? I was leaning towards accounting, but it seems a bit tough.

I'm 23 years old with a high school diploma and 3 years of working experience in minimum wage customer service jobs.

No-one has the goal of a generic "office job," so this thread is silly and made up, and I won't read it.

this >>33236472 guy is unironically correct, office jobs are fucking boring and you will be left forever bored and suicidal when the majority of your everyday consists of sitting in a chair tapping a keyboard doing shit you dont care about. humans were not meant for that

Yeah, that's my goal. It's either that or suicide, and unfortunately I don't have the balls for the latter. I have very simple hobbies so I would be able to live well on a office income.

Right now I'm leaning towards accounting, but it does seem a bit daunting.

I know my limits man. I've worked minimum wage customer service jobs for three years now and I can't do it anymore. I know what point you guys are making, how the monotony of an office life is hell, but that's really the only hell I have a conceivable way to jump into. I close to a community college

you may feel thats all that is left for you, but the fact is that unless you are barely sentient office jobs are an extremely unfulfilling way of life and you should limit yourself to them.

So what do you recommend? I have the lower back of a 70 year old grandmother so a trade is out of the question. I'm used to sitting in a chair all day.

an active "hands-on" job is always going to be a more fulfilling and healthy (physically and mentally) way to live. the only reason your back is so weak is because as you said; your body is used to sitting in a chair all day. if you go to the gym or just do some lower back exercises or even just start walking/standing up more your back will be a lot stronger. there should at least be one trade that you're genuinely interested in, get certified and find a job. or dont do any of this and follow the most psychologically damaging regime of the modern world

This is absolute bullshit. Lots of office jobs are fulfilling. You were just doing low tier administrative shit

The easiest thing to get into is sales because they don't give a shit about anything except your ability to sell things.
