I looked at betterhelp and 90 dollars a week sounds ridiculous and I'm too poor to want to pay that much to talk to anybody. So I downloaded an app that said it's an "ai model for therapy" and it's free, so I tried it. I told some stories from my childhood and it told me to speak to a real therapist and changed the subject.

What do I do now? I'm rural and I'm poor and I work at least 50 hours a week. Is all therapy that expensive or is it more expensive than that? To do in person type sessions I'd have to drive an hour and a half one way and I'm not sure how possible that is with the hours I work, everything is going to be closed or near closing by the time I get to the city. I can try sliding scale or whatever, but I'd still have to drive into the same city to get to those services and under the same time constraints.
How do you all afford this shit?

Oof. I opened one of those up recently and it tried to force a sign up. I didn't know all of them charged. Fuck that, I guess I'll just deal with it until I can't

All the therapy you could ever want is free on the internet. At some point, all the advice you can read will have been read, and all can do is vent your frustrations and move forward.

I can't speak for betterhelp specifically, but therapy in general has been an invaluable investment. That is, after I went through 4 therapists who were either money-grubbing jews or well-wishing incompetents. The fifth one absolutely changed my life. But none of them were online.

It's expensive but I'd say it's worth it.

Priest will give you free therapy. If you are not religious, go to a bar at 9 AM and order Vodka and start talking to barman. If he is chill guy he will help you.

Not at all, your lowly friends don't know what a pro knows. If they did, you wouldn't be fuckall miserable as you are now.

Sometimes real people not better help will make arrangements to help you, you just have to never miss an appointment if they give such charity.

The mental health pros are fantastic, it's just finding the right one is the challenge.

If you don't have insurance that will cover this shit then therapy is probably the least of your worries. My copay was like 20 bucks.

BetterHelp sucks. They're pricey and sell your data. Instead, use duck duck go to find therapists near you that use a sliding scale. I've seen people who will see you for $20 if you're broke and uninsured. If insured, see if your insurance will cover it. Yes, there's ones who do telehealth care, too, so check cities nearby as well.

Better help is 90 fucking dollars a week??? I've had actual licensed psychotherapists for less man. Some for slightly more. Understand that the pricetag is no way shape or form indicative of the quality of therapy you're going to get, betterhelp is legit worse than talking to a fucking AI. I've had therapists for 120 a week that fucking sucked balls, never pushed me, never checked in with my goals or tried to hold me accountable, always forgot shit about me. I've had therapists that were cheaper that were better at their job desu.
