I had this when I was younger. I think it happens when you aren't living your life in the present and making the most of it now. There is literally no way to beat it and it really sucks so you don't have to act like you're not afraid of it but it will happen.

It also generally gets better with age as well.

it feels like i am in hell, and i keep getting flashes in my head of car-crashes, myself on my deathbed dying of cancer, wars, extreme violence etc.

im considering going to a doctor, because i cannot function like this, but im ironically afraid to call and dont know who to call.

By thinking of other things. Come back when you have a real problem.

You learn to accept it. Death is natural, and that's fine. I've been around for 30 or so years. I don't want to live more than 30 more.

I don't get this anymore. once I got older and my body started going to shit I constantly feel like I'm dying. Just when I get used to one problem and accept it's benign my body decides to find a new disturbing sensation to torment me with. It's hard to feel existential dread when your actual fear of death kicks in. Honestly can't wait to die so I can stop living in fear.

Realized it when I was 5. I had some fun when I told other kids the bad news.

You most likely have Existential OCD, trust me I struggled with this for years and it would send me into horrible anxiety.

It's all a matter of perspective. There's a couple of parts from Star Trek: Generations that helped me get past this. Here's two clips that condense things, but the film is still a good watch. Watch both for context.

just know the number of days we spend on this earth is quite limited
it doesn't even go to 100'000 I think
so even if you're fearing death you gotta power over it and do stuff
at least that worked for me, as someone who is an atheist and doesn't believe in an afterlife ever since I can remember

Alcohol. Only works for a couple hours though. And it's bad for you.
