I'm a college student and in need of a part time job, my Dads friend actually recommended I do security since I'm a pretty big guy.

Would getting a security guard license be worth it? In my area you only need 40 hours of training and to pass an exam

How's the job? How's the pay? Is it competitive?

sounds like solid job for something you were born with (height/size)
I would take the course even if you don't plan on working as one for now, it seems a no brainer, you'll always have that option open for you now

>How's the job?
Like most jobs just depends on where you are and the management. Always expect the worst. You could be inside watching cameras all day and chilling or you could be outside standing around for 12 hours a day checking badges and verifying people.

>How's the pay?
Generally shit for people just starting. Like around $13-$16/hr at least for me it was. Again just depends on the company.

>Is it competitive?
Not really, depends on what company and location and type of security.

Like a bouncer at a club, or a rent a cop at a mall, or you could be armed with a rifle or shotgun or pistol at a highly secured facility just depends on how far you wanna go in security. Side note: If you wanna be armed(Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun etc...) You will have to be Level 3 licensed. Level 2 is unarmed, this is for my state might be different for you. Assuming you live in America.
