I can't do it anymore. I'm neurodivergent and my brain feels so fragmented because YouTube throws so many different topics in so little time at me that it's hard to keep a single straight thought. Most of the topics don't even particularly interest me but I've become such a perfect slave to the machine that I can't stop.

Whenever I have a break from anything, even 2 minutes, I instantly go to YT - Sometimes even to consume slop content. I just want my thoughts to disappear.
I'm disabled any my hands Don't really work enough to do active stuff like gaming so drowning in "content" is the only escapism I have left. My thoughts are already rushing 24/7 and YouTube is the only break for that I know. I can't be left to myself like that.

Start a project of some kind. A Lego set, a plastic model, making a table with woodwork, read books, set a gradually increasing length of walks nearby, other things like that.
You'll hate it at first, you'll get to a point where you really want to drop it (might be subtle but you'll be able to tell if you actively try to notice it), but that would be letting the autism win. Just push through. Walking is the best one because you can easily start and once you're out there it's just as much effort to stop as continue so you'll likely keep it up.
The basic idea is not to focus on stopping doing X coping mechanism thing, but to focus on doing something so you just don't need to cope.

YT throws a lot of shit at me but I ignore it and follow the things I'm interested in. Laughable Hasbara such as that Putin/Russia/Khamenei/Iran has surrendered/died/been destroyed is scared shitless and on and on in complete defiance of reality. Now pardon me while I watch some sciency stuff.

I’m using every alternative I can and won’t even touch newly released vids. I can’t trust how they are letting AI dominate and computers are lying piles of shit. I was watching a supposed interview from 1953 and he mentioned checking emails in the interview.

i can relate anon, i am also addicted to Youtube too I couldn't read books despite having ready access to them and much preferred hyper sitmulating youtube vids

if you are the type of guy who exclusively uses YouTube on desktop or using a browser that allows you to install extensions then I recommend getting "UnHook" which allows you to hide youtube shorts, recommended, comments, etc. you can toggle which features you want to turn on or off

absolutely this op. you want to try and NOT think about going on Youtube. Try not to think about it at all if possible.

If your addiction is so bad that you can't stop thinking about Youtube, maybe try and use Youtube to work for you. Look up some video on how to build a plastic model or as you are disabled and use 4chan maybe lurk /g/ and install gentoo or learn rust or some js framework

wish you luck op.

Get the unhook (dot) app browser extension, it’s amazing as a youtube blocker. You can still watch videos but there’s no shorts, recommended page or “watch next” section. You’ll get distracted, maybe look up a 5 minute video and right back to what you were doing.

Also take some time out of your day (10-20 mins) to just sit down with nothing and look at the sky or something while your thoughts roam.
