Do you ever do a cheeky one and call in sick when you're not actually sick?
I work a pretty relentless job where burnout is very real, there seems to be an unspoken agreement of "don't ask, don't tell" when it comes to booking off.

Just called in and said I can't come in today or tomorrow.
Help me feel less guilty.

I used to work at a Kmart in the nigger ghetto. I had to work the day after my dad died, and a stupid bitch said "Is it too much to ask for a smile? You're not the only one who has problems."

That was more than 10 years ago now. That Kmart closed down 2 years after I left. The manager at my last job (cable installation) died TWO DAYS after I found a new job. He was a total bro, now he's dead.

OP, calling out sick does not fucking matter.

Live for your life not your job. PTO is there for a reason.

Never actually did it but would if I were too stressed and felt the need. We're humans, not machines. I fully support you bro, hope you enjoy these days off.

Thanks anon, it's the kind of job where simply showing up every day takes a bit of courage. I'm of the opinion that it's worth pumping the brakes here and there lest I become one of those people walking out mid shift and disappearing for a week or two.

I'll try to make the most of it, brotha

It should be legal to bite her neck open and make her bleed to death if a bitch says some stupid shit like that, goddamn

All the time, mate.
If the place has a high burnout rate, that's their problem - not yours. In an environment like that, pulling an occasional sickie is necessary. You're more efficient, capable, and pleasant to work with when you're well-rested. When you burn out, you become a miserable, useless, inefficient bitch and you make everyone else's job's harder just by showing up every day.
Everyone benefits from your day on the couch - not just you.

Obviously:
If you don't pull your weight when you ARE at work, you're a cunt.
If you pull a sickie at obviously-retarded times that fuck your coworkers over, you're a cunt.
If you don't let your coworkers pull a sickie too, you're a cunt.

Aside from that, you're golden.

If you want to stay at that place long-term and actually have some weight to throw around, you could address the issue by sneakily saying something about stress making everyone sick. Try to change things for the better somehow.
