NTA but the criticisms of higher education that you'll wind up with a useless degree and no way to pay it off are overblown imo. Yes it is a real problem, but it generally only happens to people who aren't actively thinking about it when they go into school.

There are plenty of programs which are highly competitive and simply have a high failure rate. If you flunk out of pre med or law school that can be a very expensive mistake. A higher rate of people attending college means a higher amount of people flunking out.
