I need advice on collecting a debt from someone who is systematically avoiding to pay. Preferably without involving authorities. Please help me I'd hate to resort to violent solutions.

Do you know them well ?
If you have any secret of theirs, or embarrassing video, you could maybe kind of blackmail them. It's money they owe you anyway.

All I got on her is that her daughters are doing dope, that's about it. I guess I could go via social services but that is no guarantee when it comes to this person

Probably a stupid question, but did you try to sit her down and try to work out some kind of payment plan.

Also what kind of proof do you have of the debt, and how much is it worth. That's probably going to be important.

If you live in the west, you can normally take said person to small claims court.
Here that would involve bailiffs where you are basically guaranteed to get money back.

I think you ought to understand when you just give away money, there isnโ€™t actually a legal bind to pay you back unless its on a contract or other recorded agreementZ

you have no authority. You can only appeal to them directly if you don't see this as a tort issue. >>33250823 is about the only thing you can do, and thats if they agree that you are even owed. If they don't think you are owed, you have nothing

if its less than $1000 dollars, you are likely going to waste more time and treasure chasing it.
